Obama slogan: "I'm doing all I can to help but I'm going to ignore your state requests to start cleaning up this mess. Wait 6 months"

"Cheney/bush deregulation caused gulf oil spill catastrophe"

Cheney's energy deregulation allowed our oil companies not to spend $500,000 on an acoustic switch to trigger the blowout prevention that would have stopped the disaster now looming off the gulf of Louisiana.

Liberal enviro kooks forced oil companies to drill 65 miles off shore and 5,000 ft down instead of closer to shore so that leaks could easily be stopped right away.In fact,if it wasnt for lib idiots we wouldnt need drilling in water at all.We could be drilling in Anwar, but enviro jerk offs wont allow it.Once again,as usual, libs good intentions have deadly ramifications.

Cute, but Obama has been President 15 months and has had more than enough time to revert the changes Cheney spearheaded.  :D

Best keep finger pointing while millions of gallons of oil continue to pour into the Gulf.

He apparently refused offers of help from Norway, Russia and Saudi Arabia. Three countries that are quite experienced with drilling.

Wonder why he would do that?

I remember 240 criticizing Bush for refusing offers of help from other nations after Katrina.  :)

Yeah, while I think Bush/cheney are of course, some evil energy whores who borrowed like drunken sailors... surely this issue of the regulations came up in the first 450 days of Obama in office.  If there's time to vacation or attend basketball games, there's time to re-examine safety requirements on things like drililng which can be hugely detrimental to the environment.

Obama failed in not requiring add'l drilling safety and making them better prepare for a spill.  I don't fault obama for the response - let's face it, anyone with a brain knows they're trying 8 or 10 PR moves with witty two-word phrases like "Top hat" or "Bull Plug", but this fuuukker is just going to pump oil for another 2 months til it's dry.

I criticize this move equally.  Now, if it came with strings "You vill let our comrades set up video ve-quipment, etc" I can see not allowing it.  Security issues.  But just pulling up and sucking up oil, damn skippy he should have these countries invovled.

"Spill baby spill" is damn funny.

Anyone who blindly screamed "DRILL!" is still supporting an oil-based system.  So it's just another shade of evil oil dependence.

My guess is the successful 2012 GOp contender will be the one with the best Solar or other energy alternative phrase.

Seriously, could Palin be any more of a cliche at this point?  LOL... using notes on her hand while giving a speech criticizing Obama for the use of a teleprompter?  Shitting on community organizers approx 10 weeks before ... um.... community organizers delivered Obama the biggest Got Out The Vote turnout in history.... Associating herself almost solely with "Drill Baby Drill" in the 2012 swing states whose economies are about to be crippled from domestic oil drilling?

Man, if you wrote a book like this, nobody would buy it.  Too unrealistic.

There is no such thing as alternative energy to replace oil than maybe natural gas but the enviro nzai freaks wont let us develop domestic sources of that either.

They want us in tents by a camp fire.

Or maybe, just maybe, it would be nice for us to not have to rely on foreign countries for our oil? I know I'm pretty tired of watching the US send the Saudis billions of dollars in oil money every year.

Geeze, the great and all mighty Mesiah has been in office for 1.5 years. The man whos election would mark the day that "the earth would begin to heal itself and the oceans would begin to recede".Are we even ONE STEP closer to energy independance? Are we ONE STEP closer to getting off oil?Have we seen ONE invention that will work instead of oil?The answer is NO!!!!

The man who is so smart,so powerfull so full of ego that he actually thought his election "would be the time the earth would begin to heal itself" has failed in every way!!!The earth is is in the same state as it was the month before his election other then the gulf coast which is dying. The economy is worse.UE is higher. We are many more trillion in debt.Passed a health care scheme that will bankrupt the country.A total failure!

Seems odd that after the unmittigated failure of the little community organiser, that knocking Palin makes much sense. So please, make fun of her if you want, but in her entire life she has NEVER said ANYTHING even as close to as stupid as Obama saying "this is the day the earth begins to heal itself and the oceans begin to recede".THATS the stuff of a movie, problem is its a horror movie.

This reminds me of the old quote,

"Everything that can be invented has been invented."**

--Charles H. Duell, Commissioner, U.S. Office of Patents, 1899.

Just because a heavily armed, balding lawyer from NYC can't come up with a better energy solution to make oil a thing of the past, doesn't mean one of the other 7 billion people on the planet can't do it.

All it takes is for one genius to discover some form of free or near-free energy, release that shit on WIKIleaks, and the whole world will suddenly be on a level playing field.  The middle east will turn very poor very fast once the oil under their feet is worthless.

Might happen this year, might happen in 150 years.  But at some point, thanks to technology and the fact that necessity is the mother of all inventions, it WILL someday happen.

the cost of the wars just passed one trillion dollars.

If we had just went back to 2001, and told the energy companies "Look, we'll just GIVE you a trillion dollars - once you create the perfect solar power system to make every house and car in America 100% energy independent".

I think they could have done it for a trillion, ya know?

Obama could have done the same thing with the Stim Bill since that cost the same as the wars.

well, the wars were an elective thing.

if obama hadn't done the stim, there would have been no more dollar.

which part?  lol

elective wars = afghanist said they'd deliver OBL's head on a platter if we gave any evidence of his involvement, or they'd turn him over without evidence to the hauge for a world trial.  Since he was a US asset for decades until 98 (and very possibly on 911 on some level) we sure didn't want that.  Oil, gas, bases, whatever, we wanted that war.

iraq = was dropping the dollar.  They had to get the foot in the ass.  WMD?  LOL... show me one moron that still sells that story... saddam let UN inspectors use his potties and they found zilch.  Bush wanted the bases, park on oil and save for rainy day 20 years from now to be sold in dollars.

So while I support those wars cause I understand long-term us energy needs - they were elective.  "Getting bin laden and stopping WMD" = "Santa claus brought you a bike, susie".
