He was the first MMA-ist. With his skill, and hard work, if he lived today, he would still be awesome.

I think Bruce would have done awesome.  But he would never get past guys like Jose Aldo:

Do you think for one moment Lee would not have amended his skill set? Bruce would have adapted and over came.

Bruce Lee was a rare crossover at the time.  But I have read that there are monks that practice Martial Arts daily and are deadlier but they chose seclusion.  Today there are thousand of little asian martial artists and they would get killed in an MMA situation.

In their prime, in a real fight, Bruce Lee wouldn't last two minutes against Chuck Norris

he already beat up chuck norris once and chuck norris was quotes as saying bruce was one of the fastest and strongest fighters he'd seen and would not want to fight him.

lol. yeah right...impossible.

power is a function of levers and muscle mass. A small dude simply doesnt have the mechanics to generate the same power as a larger guy.

thats why we have weight divisions as it sets similar sizes against each other otherwise the big guys would always win.

it really is as simple as that.

Power for weightlifting is completely different than Power for fighting. hitting power is about speed and technique. all Marius's strength does little for him in MMA.

bruce knew how to fire all his muscles in perfect succession, and could hit harder than any Strongman competitor.

He was 5'7" and had the power of a heavyweight

Exactly. He kicked Kareem Abdul Jabbar to death and he weighed twice as much as Bruce.

He would've beat all these ufc clowns, no problem.

Don't forget about the time he broad jumped over a 12 foot cement wall in Fists of Fury.

He had some of the craziest hops I have ever seen.

Yeah, I'd like to see Lesnar capture a cobra, abseil into an underground heroin production plant, let the cobra free in a little office type thing and then kick fuck out of a Chinese drug lord's private army.

That overhyped chump wouldn't stand a chance.

EXACTLY! And he even broke the neck of a young Jackie Chan. Snapped it like a twig. Chinaman had twice the functional strength of Brock. And all he took was lecithin and drank beef blood.

Crikey! I forgot about that.

A true indication of how well Bruce would have done in MMA is the fact that he killed Chuck Norris while a small bemused looking kitten watched, and anyone with access to the internet over the last few years knows what Chuck Norris was capable of!

That would be something!!

"Lee was involved in competitive fights, some of which were arranged while others were not. Dan Inosanto stated, "There's no doubt in my mind that if Bruce Lee had gone into pro boxing, he could easily have ranked in the top three in the lightweight division or junior-welterweight division."[33]

Lee defeated three-time champion British boxer Gary Elms by way of knockout in the third round in the 1958 Hong Kong Inter-School amateur Boxing Championships by using Wing Chun traps and high/low-level straight punches.[34] Hawkings Cheung, his fellow Wing Chun street fighter, witnessed the event. Lee knocked-out Pu Chung, a Cai Li Fo fighter, in the roof tops of Hong Kong in a 1958 Full-Contact match. The match was refereed by Wong Shun Leung.[35][36]

The following year, Lee became a member of the "Tigers of Junction Street," and was involved in numerous gang-related street fights. "In one of his last encounters, while removing his jacket the fellow he was squaring off against sucker punched him and blackened his eye. Bruce flew into a rage and went after him, knocking him out, breaking his opponent's arm. The police were called as a result."[37] The incident took place on a Hong Kong rooftop at 10 P.M. on Wednesday, April 29, 1959.[38]

In 1960 in Seattle, Lee backfisted and broke a man's nose after Lee saw him harassing a Chinese girl while Lee was taking a walk. This fight was witnessed by James DeMile in 1960.[39]

In 1962 Lee knocked out Uechi, a Japanese black belt Karateka, in 11 seconds in a 1962 Full-Contact match in Seattle.[40] It was refereed by Jesse Glover[41]. The incident took place in Seattle at a YMCA handball court.[42] Taki Kamura says the battle lasted 10 seconds in contrary to Harts statement.[43] Ed Hart states "The karate man arrived in his gi (uniform), complete with black belt, while Bruce showed up in his street clothes and simply took off his shoes. The fight lasted exactly 11 seconds--I know because I was the time keeper—and Bruce had hit the guy something like 15 times and kicked him once. I thought he'd killed him."[44] The fight ended by Bruce knocking Uechi the length of the gymnasium[45]"

these are actually facts... not legends as people want to think .

bruce was phenomanal if you think about the fact that he didn't have a coach 24/7 to look after him... he basicly was is own master at the end.

I trained with James DeMile in the late 1970s in Hawaii. I did Aikido and Karate but the shit didn't work in the scraps that I got in school because we never trained real full contact sparring. The classes were all the same. We lined up in rows and just punched and kicked in the air with an occasional "Kiai". We'd also practiced choreographed techniques on each other that even as a young teen seemed contrived. I saw a weapons demonstration given by Demile and he had his guys padded and they whaled away at each other with sticks and nunchakus. I found out where he taught and saw that they did real full contact sparring. It was great because I was the youngest in the class and after a while I was holding my own against the 20 and 30 year olds when we'd bang away at each other. It really gave me a lot of confidence and I started coming into my own during scraps at school and gaining a reputation.

His was a modified Wing Chun which he called Wing Chun Do. It still use the trapping techniques that Wing Chun does but you moved more relaxed and loose like a boxer instead of the stiff traditional Wing Chun stance. He also modified the traditional Wing Chun Dummy which was just a big wooden log with wooden pegs sticking out. You'd break your hand going all out on that. He made it padded and attached spring loaded arms that you could use to practice trapping techniques. He made a lot of other innovative equipment and knew the one inch punch where he'd knock you on your ass with a punch just an inch away.

Cool stuff pellius, martial arts are cool. I did some taekwondo when I was a little kid but it wasn't for me really. Gonna try boxing soon though.

And back in those days you could have real fights. Demile back in those days was a real bull. He didn't do much kicks but once he got in close his hands would fly and just drill his opponent with straight, sharp punches. When I move to LA and got into Jiu-Jitsu when Rorion and Royce first opened their Academy in Torrance their cousins, the Machados opened their own school in Redondo Beach. I started going there and every morning Dan Inosantos (Bruce's number student and best friend) would be there taking a private lesson with Roger Machado. He was another one that had hands like greased lighting. Being Filipino, Dan was an expert in Kali and Escrima and put a couple of sticks in his hands and he was like a wizard. He trained Bruce in the sticks which Bruce used in Enter the Dragon. I use to chew the fat with Dan every morning for a few minutes after his class when he was getting ready to leave and I was getting ready to train. He said that Bruce later in life was getting into grappling and submissions and would have love Jiu-Jitsu. He said Bruce was always learning and always trying to improve himself.

Chuck Norris also trained at the Machado's and when he got the Texas Ranger show he took one of the brothers, Carlos Machado, with him so he could still train in BJJ. Once you get into BJJ you're hooked for life. Chuck helped Carlos set up an academy in Texas and brought Jiu-Jitsu to that state.

This is Dan Inosantos throwing sticks with Steven Seagal. I don't know how good of a fighter Seagal really is but he sure does know how to handle a gun. He's the only one in movies, other than maybe Chuck Norris, that knows his was around a 1911 .45 acp. I love his early movies though.

seagal is actually a multiple time world champion in aikido....

I started training in Aikido when I was 10 years old. There is an Academy in Hawaii where the instructors, almost all from Japan, lived trained and taught. Never was I ever aware of any full contact, no holds bar Aikido tournaments. Nor was I aware of any type of Aikido tournaments where there was open competition even remotely resembling a combat sport. There were a lot of demonstrations and choreagraphed moves. If you are familiar with Aikido you will see the same old handful of moves just repeated over and over again with the full cooperation of your opponent.

Look at Seagal. His opponents make no realistic attempt to attack him. Just rush and get thrown. Nobody fights like that. One thing I did learn from training in Aikido was how to roll when thrown. You needed to know this because the techniques won't work unless your opponent rolls when you throw them. No wonder Gene Labelle, already in his sixties, choked out Seagal unconscious on a movie set when Seagal was running his mouth.

a 120 lbs skinny ecto has his chances against anoter 120lbs skinny ecto, but not against someone who s way bigger heavier than him. That's why we invented weight classes, retards.
