Best for mass: moderately heavy weight with higher reps...

used to think heavy weights with 6 reps was the key to adding mass...


however, seems like the greats like Ronnie and Arnold would use "lighter" weights (not 10 pound dumbells!) and do more reps (greater than 10 per set).  they would still lift heavy ass weight, for instance, if ronnie can press a 220 lb dumbell for 6 reps, he would instead do 180 lbs for 12 reps.  Still very heavy, but "lighter" than usual so he can do more reps.

seems like arnold believed in that too, feeling like a better pump built more muscle than using very heavy weight with lower reps...

 in essence, you avoid the extremely productive lifts (real heavy weight to failure) because they are very taxing on recovery and you would easily overtrain with a high volume of these types of sets.

this allows you to do such a large amount of moderately productive work that it more than makes up for the missing extremely productive work.

Arnold used to do about a gazillion sets worm, there is no way that is going to work as a natural.

 just get shredded stay shredded if yoru natty.. dont worry about training cuz ur not getting huge anyways

Arnold used to do about a gazillion sets worm, there is no way that is going to work as a natural.
 I usually do 3 or 4 exercises per body part  3-4 sets of 8-10 reps (no counting warm up sets ) it works for me.

ur always shredded, for you putting on size is the only time you look different. you probably get built up to a point, like a division 3 college halfback type look. for 90& of natty's who arent shredded, training shouldnt be of any conern untill theyve been shredded for a while.

i dropped my ego at the door and have been doing lighter weight than usual and doing more reps (10-12) and been doing this for about a month now, and I can really see a difference already.  wish i had been doing this 5-10 years ago...

Lifting real heavy weights doesnt mean your gonna get the muscle size you want.

I find that hand cream and higher reps do wonders for me to get a great pump in the middle leg while watching hot babes on the stair climber

When you are gassed the more you train the more you grow....you dont even need off days

as a natty you have to actually temper yourself in the gym because if you stay there for two hours doing tons of work you wont recuperate

Increasing lifting poundages = CNS increases release of neurotransmitters

However reuptake and resynthesis stays the same... hmmmmmm
