Van Halen deserves a top ten rating for sure. And yes, the tail end of the 70's. Zeppelin was unreal. All four musicians were so gifted at their respective roles in the band. Page was so cool and still is when he performs even today. Plant looks like an old frog these days but he one of the most gifted rock vocalists of all time. Bonham killed it on the drums. Just four super highly gifted musicians who fired on all cylinders.

it was a different time. I saw Zepp twice before I started kindergarten. If you didn't, your parents may have been uncool. That said... The Who has to be on the top of any list and, remember, The Stones did their best work in the 70's.

7 and 12 should be swapped.  Van Halen is one of the best rock bands of all time, granted thier first album came out in 78, but they're much more influential than whoever that is at 7.

VH is really an 80's band, same with Genesis, Rush, ZZ top, police, Scorpions. That's when they got big.
Priest and Motorhead are really metal. Black sabbath is too but I have no problem labeling them classic rock.

Whoever that is influenced Van Halen. Hell, Van Halen covered Budgie songs in the 70's. Most Americans have NO IDEA who Budgie are. Again, criminally underrated.

To the guy who thinks Hendrix should be in there, well, he is more of a 60's rock star. Not a 70's.
