I read this book a few times it was so good.

Quote
"The Money Sink" tells the how, when and why of criminal and terrorist money laundering, the murky and ultra-secret world where the line between legitimate business and crime vanishes. In 1994, when Jeffrey Robinson, author of "The Laundrymen", first brought to the world's attention the problems of dirty money - revealing how otherwise legitimate lawyers, bankers, accountants and even governments were helping drug traffickers hide the proceeds of their crimes - he labelled money laundering the world's third largest business, estimating that at any given time there was around $300 billion circling the globe, looking to get clean. Now, in the sequel to "The Laundrymen", Robinson calculates that the dirty money business has doubled in less than ten years and is ever more sophisticated (law enforcement and concerned governments flounder in its wake) - and he lays the blame on the offshore world. In an eye-opening piece of investigative journalism, Robinson reveals the state of the art of business-as-crime worldwide. As vast profits are turned into seemingly legitimate money, lawyers, bankers, accountants, brokers and governments have sold out to the mob and terrorists learn the lessons too and use Western financial networks to finance attacks on those same systems.

this one is coming out soon,

One in nine Americans will lose money as a victim of fraud

• Every man and woman in the country (and every child with an email address) will be targeted by professional fraudsters-multiple times.
• Seven out of every eight frauds go unreported.
• Most fraudsters will get away with their crime.
• Government agencies and crime watchdogs suggest that there could be up to $100 billion worth of fraud in this country in any given year.

A jaw-dropping exposé of fraud in America today-who's doing it, how it's done, and how you can protect yourself-the world of fraud is laid bare: from personal finance and investment schemes to Internet scams and identity theft, to pyramid cons and the infamous Nigerian advance fee frauds.

Jeffrey Robinson gets inside the heads of the most notorious scam artists to uncover the psychological weapons they use to entice victims. With uncanny clarity and insight, he shows how to spot a scam and how to limit your exposure to fraudsters.

There's a Sucker Born Every Minute levels the playing field, arming consumers with the knowledge they need to combat even the most insidious conmen.

Just picked up Daniel Okrent's 'Last Call' for my Da. It's about America's love of alcohol and it's experiment with Prohibition. Lots of great reviews on this one. Looks fascinating.

LOL. I've actually read that one. Huge book written at about a grade-eight reading level. And the book is better than the movie, if that's even possible.  :-X
