i'm a former engineer and i have never heard of anyone being offered that. Even the most elite of engineers don't even get offered 130k.
I actually had to leave computer programming in 1998 because i couldn't get any employment. The sad part about this is that only a very small fraction of engineering/computer grads even get any offers of employment.
i tend to agree with this post. our principal and senior guys get between 110 and 150. and theyve been doing it for 20 years. unless of course you are referring to contract rates?
we pay contractors $150-$250 per hour. that equates to well over $300k PA, and some contracts go longer than 12 months, but most are 6 months or less.
prior to my current gig (on $155k), i was getting $200ph..which is good while it lasts- but ive been doing this for nearly 20 years.
most technical types who arent engineers get about $80-$100 ph.
grads would get about that- which equates closer to about $170k.
