6'3" Mike O'hearn is taller than Big Lou Ferrigno today

Damn, I just saw this. I know Arnold and Lou have lost height, but this shows just how much big Louie has actually lost. Louie used to be a legit 6'4.5" guy. In his late 50's, he is shorter than a 6'3" man... Sad but true...

I saw that too.  He is around the same height.  Maybe correcting his poor posture would put him at 6'3 and 1/2?

I know for a fact, that he was measured in 1994 (I read this) and was a little over 6'4" at that point (in his early 40's), so he had minimal height loss then, but since, he's gone down in height. He can't even hit a full 6'3" when standing completely straight.

Arnold also has gone from 6'1.5"-6'1.75" to a 5'11.5"-6'0" today...

I think there is a strong correlation with weightlifting and height loss.

Another guy who has lost INCHES is Hulk Hogan. He was a LEGIT 6'6" man up until the late 80's. Today, 6'4" Troy Aikman has at least 2" on him... In fairness to Hogan, he has undergone a neck fusion, 5 back operations, 3 knee replacements, 2 hip replacements and has severe scoliosis of the spine..

Superstar Billy Graham has lost 4" in height (6'4" to a flat 6'0")...

Clint Eastwood has gone from 6'4" to 5'11" (barely taller than Matt Damon today).

And Mick Mars from Motley Crue has apparently (according to him) gone from 5'9" to 5'3" due to a severe fusion of his lower spine. Poor guy can't even turn his head anymore and needs MASSIVE platform shoes to look close to Vince Neil's height today.

I kind of have an obsession with height, so I've done my research on this topic ;).

I noticed Lou has shitty posture in a recent expo picture, plus your spine compresses as you age.  He could probably regain his height with a few chiropractor visits.

The average height for an American male is 5'9" so Lou is still way above the curve. I wonder what the average height for a pro BB is? LOL? They'd kill for even Arnold's compressed frame.

I met lou in 1993 and he was right on 6'4 imo since I'm exactly 6'3 and he was a touch taller.

the numbers your throwing around are ABSOLUTELY ridiculous, and make you sound silly

people have been known to lose an inch (MAYBE 2) as they get older.....but NO ONE loses 4 or 5 inches

clint eastwood was NEVER 6'4, nor did he lose 5 inches :(just under a half a foot) as he aged

btw,,,,,,,,,,,mike o' hearn is one of the biggest pieces of garbage in the ENTIRE BB industry, fucking stright up liar walkign around screaming that he is natural

it is one thing to not address your drug usage due to legal concerns, but going out of your way to tell everyone you have NEVER touched a steroid (YET are 6'4 280lbs with6% bodyfat and breaking powerlifting records) just makes you sound like the biggest asshole in the ENTIRE world

please KILL YOURSELF mike you f@ggot

Hulk's height loss is primarily due to the surgeries you mentioned I would think.  Too bad about the height loss with age.  Is there any proof that this is correlated with lifting weights though?

I believe it's a correlation both with heavy weightlifting and steroid use and in Hogan's situation, yes, he has had more bone fused together and cut away in his body (from surgeries) that if he would were to have a face off with his former and younger/healthier self, he would strain his neck looking up at him...

Clint HAS lost that much height. He suffers from severe Scoliosis. He was INDEED 6'4" in his younger days.

Billy Graham's entire spine has collapsed and he (like Hogan) has had his ankles, neck and knees fused together. He is currently in a wheelchair and has said to have lost 4" in height and blames steroids...

We can even look at Reg Park. The man was a solid 6'1" in his younger days. Shortly before he died, he claimed to be down to 5'9". Arnold (even in his shortened stage) had to look down to Reg at an awards ceremony...

We all lose height (men 2" by 80 and women 3.25"), but I think heavy weights over a course of time SPEED UP that process by compressing our joints and bones together)...

Lou claimed that his legs have gotten shorter in the last 15 years because of heavy squats and can no longer do them as a result (bone on bone, like metal on metal).... The pads have warn away.

I don't know if weight lifting and steroids contribute to losing height. Losing height means you are suffering bone loss. It's been proven that resistance training prevents or hinders bone loss. Also, deca-durabolin use to be use as a treatment for osteoporosis. Having weight on your shoulder like in a barbell squat for barely a minute if even that I believe is negligible in "compressing" the spine. Also, in a squat the weight sits on your shoulders and the force is not directed soley on the spine. Maybe if you stood up straight and had a weight sitting on your head you might have some compression but unless you do that for hours at a time for many years I don't think even that will effect you much. It is the deterioration of the spongy material between your vertebrates that causes some height loss as it wears away with age.

The average male stands 5'9" and I would say that the average bodybuilder is 5'5"

Some more height losses:

Legendary former WWF wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper has said to have gone from 6'1.5" in the 80's, down to 5'9" due to the removal of some spinal discs in his spine, as well as a hip replacement.

Big Show has stated that he has lost 2" in height since the mid-late 90's (his WCW days), going from 7'1" to 6'11", because of curvature of the back and neck surgery...

The Undertaker stated that he has gone from 6'8" down to 6'6"-6'6.5" because of neck, knee and back surgeries.

Shawn Michaels has shrunk from 6'1" to 5'11" and Ric Flair has gone from 6'1" to 5'9"...

Bill Kazmaier claims to have gone down from 6'3" to under 6'1" today and Geoff Capes says he is down to 6'4" from 6'6".

The list goes on and on.... All these men took a beating in the ring for YEARS and paid for it, but they were also heavily into weightlifting and steroid use...

Even our beloved Serge Nubret claimed to have gone down from an even 6'0" to 5'9".

Remember, these are NOT healthy and/or normal stats...

I use to be a studly 6'2" but I'm now just a bit over 6'1". It's mostly due to a compressed disk in my lower back and maybe some from the knee surgery and perhaps some due to (sigh) age. I just hope I don't drop below 6 feet.

I find it very strange that a lot of you guys that are around 6' tall are VERY concerned about your own and other men's heights. Concerned isn't even the word for it, it's more like obsessed.

I'm well below average in height and I spend very little time thinking or worrying about it. I probably get discriminated upon but I don't feel that I'm at any real disadvantage to taller guys. The only time I've felt this is when dating, the dating pool is notably smaller for me since I don't tend to want to date anyone taller than me.
