I got an iphone...it was cheap with my upgrade...I wanted the new blackberry because of the instant emails...but the iphone was cheaper...so it was an easy decision..

btw...blacks no matter what their SES will go out of their way to buy ANYTHING new....even if they (which is most of the time) cant afford it...we make bad money decisions when it comes to consumption... really really bad decisions. There are people who live in some of the watts projects that have iphones...which mean their phone costs more than their rent...

Why do you think the problem persists?   What level or importance does impressing their own peers have amongst the culture and why do they think it is necessary?

I have the IPod myself, everyone had to have the IPod. If you had any other MP3-Player except for the Ipod you were a stigmatized loser, and what the IPod was among the MP3-Players the IPhone is among the Smartphones.

It is simple, Kids always want that new product and so do most people! People always want things that they can barely afford, Iphone, BB Bold, Electronics, Shoes, Clothes and they will destroy their credit to get or beg mommy and daddy to get it for them.   Remember Adonis, "they have to fit in".

Apple makes garbage though.  Their PC`s can`t hold a candle to what you can build yourself.  Their IPODs are duplicated over and over and are even improved by other makes of the same thing.  Their Phones likewise.

Its not Rocket Science, people dont want to carry a laptop/netbook around with them and most working people want to be able to check email/the net/listen to music on the go and apple provides the best platform for this.To some its fanboism but to the educated who want these features on the go then apple simply does it better, if droid did it better Id happily admit this but they dont.

It's tied into self esteem. We are still slaves, but slaves to material things, false pride or esteem due to having material things. This is amplified in hip-hop, especially the BIG/Bad Boy playa era, where they were always dropping name brand items, and saying what they have versus you.

Again people compromise , browsing on the iphone is actually very good, the new iphone 4 is doubling the resolution so even zoomed in the dpi of text is amazing.You are sitting in a bar expecting an important email, do you unzip your bag, pull out your laptop, wait 2 mins for it to boot up then get a wifi signal or do you pull out your iphone and within 5 seconds be reading your email?Adonis you clearly are a man of leisure, nothing wrong with that but for anyone with limited time and wants to be able to check anything e-related within seconds no matter where they are then the iphone is a godsend.
