::) If I'm not mistaken she was bragging that The President should give her a call.....so to me that says she DOES want to be involved.

Did you watch the clip?  This is the one area she really does know a ton more about than obama and his admn.

Unless her duties as Czarina would involve dressing up like a tramp and servicing me sexually, I am oppossed to her nomination.

She made a couple of good points...why the hell weren't the dutch and the norwegians allowed to help?

But it looks bad if the USA has to accept help from smaller countries though so I suppose she would have done no different had she been the head honcho.

O'Reilly was quite good there as well I thought...stuck her good on a couple of questions, Fox needs to do that a little bit more if its going to be a really credible news source.

If this is true here's the answer to that.

http://www.pensitoreview.com/2010/06/16/palin-lies-about-obama-refusing-foreign-assistance-in-gulf/
"Meanwhile, back in reality-based reality:

In an interview on the June 15 edition of Fox & Friends, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs stated that “[w]e have talked to several countries” and that “foreign entities are operating within the Gulf that help us respond” to the oil spill. Despite this, both Carlson and Ingraham continued to falsely suggest that foreign aide was being denied.

…In a June 15 press release, the Deepwater Horizon Incident Joint Information Center (JIC) stated that “[c]urrently, 15 foreign-flagged vessels are involved in the largest response to an oil spill in U.S. history.” The JIC further explained, “No Jones Act waivers have been granted because none of these vessels have required such a waiver to conduct their operations in the Gulf of Mexico.” The press release further stated:

To date, the administration has leveraged assets and skills from numerous foreign countries and international organizations as part of this historic, all-hands-on-deck response, including Canada, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, the United Nations’ International Maritime Organization and the European Union’s Monitoring and Information Centre. In some cases, offers of international assistance have been turned down because the offer didn’t fit the needs of the response.

…On June 10, Fox News reporter Brian Wilson wrote on his blog that “[t]he Coast Guard and the Administration are quick to point out that some foreign technology is being used in the current cleanup effort.” According to Wilson, this technology includes:

        * Canada’s offer of 3,000 meters of containment boom
        * Three sets of COSEQ sweeping arms from the Dutch
        * Mexico’s offer of two skimmers and 4200 meters of boom
        * Norway’s offer of 8 skimming systems

Gibbs: “We are using equipment … from countries like Norway, Canada, the Netherlands”; no need “thus far” for “any type of waiver.” In a June 10 press briefing, Gibbs fielded a question on the administration’s position in issuing waivers to the Jones Act. Gibbs stated that “there has not been any problem” with “using equipment” from foreign countries. From the briefing:

Q Senator Bill Nelson is going to write a letter to the President today asking for some clarification on the Jones Act and whether or not it is in any way inhibiting the U.S. government’s use of offers from other foreign nations and foreign-flagged vessels to help in any way — mediation, skimming, any of the other operations you’re doing on the Gulf. What is the administration’s position on it? The Jones Act was waived during Katrina by the Bush administration to bring oil in. What’s your position on this?

MR. GIBBS: I would say this –

Q Is it an impediment or are you open to waiving it if you need to?

MR. GIBBS: No, no, as Admiral Allen said today, we are using equipment and vessels from countries like Norway, Canada, the Netherlands. There has not been any problem with this. If there is the need for any type of waiver, that would obviously be granted. But this — we’ve not had that problem thus far in the Gulf.

Q But you’re open to waiving it if you need to?

MR. GIBBS: If there’s anything that needs to happen, that will — we will make sure that it happens."

Dutch consul slams US foot-dragging on oil spill

Three days after BP’s Deepwater Horizon drilling platform exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, the Netherlands offered to help. Ships could have set about clearing the oil using Dutch sweeping arms, but the US government didn’t take up the offer. Dutch Consul General Geert Visser in Houston told Radio Netherlands Worldwide he was disappointed.

The US response, says Mr Visser: “‘Thanks for your help, but at the moment we can manage ourselves.’ And that was it.” He puts the reticence down to pride.

Late
Weeks later the pride was forgotten and the US came to the Dutch for help after all. “Almost a month later – a month too late, of course – Washington did make a request to send the sweeping arms to Houston in Texas,” says Mr Visser. “They arrived in three 747s, ten days later. They were then transported to Louisiana to be mounted on ships.”

US ships are now fitted with the arms and should be operational within a few days. Each pair of arms can clear around 20,000 tons of oil a day.

Experience
Mr Visser thinks Dutch experience with water management and dyke construction may have played a role in the change in US attitude. “They evidently realised that the Netherlands has superior equipment that can work quickly and efficiently.”

The US also initially turned down another Dutch proposal. The Dutch knowledge institute Deltares and dredging company Van Oord put forward a plan to build a sand dyke stretching for dozens of kilometres within three weeks. And here too, Washington came round in the end.

Jones Act

Not only capricious US decision-making has made life difficult for the Dutch companies, but also protective US legislation. Consul General Geert Visser’s pet hate is the Jones Act: “It means that Dutch ships, or whatever other ships not under a US flag, can’t operate in US waters.” According to the Jones Act, all goods in US waters have to be transported by US ships.

On Wednesday it was announced that oil company BP is increasing its capacity to capture the oil escaping from the leaking well in the Gulf of Mexico. The company has installed a cap over the well. From next week it hopes to increase the containment capacity from around 15,000 barrels a day to 28,000.

I don't think it looks bad for us to ask for help.  I think it looks arrogant for us not to ask for help.  All that shit-spouting Barry did during the election about rehabilitating our image with other nations and blah, blah.  Now is the time for Obama to show some humility and say, "hey, you guys have a lot of expertise in this field...please bring on as much as you can and THANK YOU for your expertise."

Of course I imagine next month he'll be "accidentally" fixing his shoelace while standing directly in front of some king all the while claiming that we're improving our image in the world.

So we now know that Obama has accepted help.

He didn't do it fast enough for some people.  That's fair.

But that ignorant ass line - that Palin and the Fox morning crew are still repeating - is a total lie.  Obama is now using foreign help with the cleanup.  So if you hear them perpetuating the lie, throw feces at your TV in protest!

To be fair, maybe she didn't keep up with this weeks' news.

I honestly don't think she's intentionally lying.  I just think she's uninformed.  She is tweeting about denying her boob job.  But she's obviously not reading the paper.

She said the prezs big mistake was not accepting Dutch help - and it's been all over the papers that he has accepted it.

wash post has been reporting for a MONTH - from late may - that we have accepted multiple country's help - including the Dutch and mex.

So I don't think she's lying - I think she's just a month behind in the news, and acting like she is up on things.

WTF?

Palin spoke out of her ass.  What does that have to do with the disaster that is obama?

That's like me calling BP to complain about the oil on my lawn - and their response being "Hey, this is nowhere near as bad as the meteor that hit the Gulf 65 mil years ago and killed all dem dinos!"

No she didnt.  Until yesterday, after being utterly humiliated by his incompetence in turning down help from 17 other nations did Obama ok help from others.

I thought the Post said the help from the Dutch and mex came in late may?

Are you saying Obama accepted help first on June 22?

The Dutch offered help on the third day after the explosion.  Obama turned it down and said that the U.S.'s response to the spill is a disgrace.

Read this again and wake the hell up.

so what date did obama say "dutch, we'll take your help".

we all agree he waited too long - but the fact is, Palin said he wasn't accepting their help - AFTER he had accepted their help.

Give me a break.  The article I posted said its too late to really do anything now since they would have been most effective had the hel been accepted when offered.

This is another obama scam tailor made for supporters like yourself.

No, this is a thread about sarah palin talking out of her ass.

Nobody is denying obama shuld have accepted their help minute one.

The point of this thread - her big OReilly misstep... Her only solution (with all her years of oil experience) was SOMETHING OBAMA HAD ALREADY DONE.

Yes, he took his swee ttime doing it, and he deserves criticism for that.  But Palin's solution was something that was already done.  She has no solution.  Obama already did it.  You can redirect the thread til the cows come home, blame obama for waiting too long, etc.

But the bottom line is that your baby girl sarah is spunky, sexy, enthusiastic, whatever - but she cannot offer any solutions to the oil mess that aren't enacted already.  She's doing what many repubs do - bitch about obama but fail to offer any alternative solutions.

240 - surely you understand that had obama accepted the help from day one, perhaps the spread would not nearly have been as bad.

His accepting it now is bogus, worthless, and simply CYA since he obviously looks inept, incompetent, corrupt, and delusional.

I agree with these points 10000000000000%.

Palin would be fair in saying "His slow response time is largely responsible for this mess!"

But she didn't say that.  Her whole solution was "Accept the help of the dutch - they are good at fixing dikes".

And when she did that interview, obama had already long (and late) accepted the Dutch help.

She was wrong.  She was weeks behind on the facts.  Can you agree with that?
