Why couldn't the cameraman in the back have gone all the way around, showing his entire bak, instead of close-ups of his feet, hands and face? Lots of hoaxsters out there, of all creeds and religions. How many people swore Uri Geller was the real deal back in the 70's, or that David Blaine performs "real" magic?

That being said, I've seen Nasser levitate on an Olympia stage.

It's not real but you can make something levitate with magnets and real cold temperature, about an inch or so off the ground.

He actually sued a French magician who duplicated that setup.
Copperfield “buys” his illusions from other magicians and then usually modifies & personalizes them with music and costuming.
Then, he gets a copyright on the whole thing, and often owns the exclusive rights to the effect and/or performance.

A magician buddy of mine in OH knew the guy who created the flying apparatus.
He wouldn’t tell me how much DC paid for the plans - maybe he didn’t know himself - but back in the day Copperfield would easily drop $20,000 and up for some of those things.

Even the little close up effects he performed, he paid good money for.

David Copperfield is a bad ass, he bought the Batmobile under the condition that he could never use it in any of his shows:

He also tried suing over that.
WB was very protective of that car for a lot of years, and even employed a team whose sole job was track down illegal repro’s.

DC paid - I think - $90,000 for what he thought was the Batmobile that Michael Keaton drove in the 1989 movie. Turned out it was one of several BM’s made, but was never used on set.

Keaton offered $250,000 for the car after the first movie was released, but WB said no because they needed it for Batman Returns.
