Obama's Former Rev. Wright Gives Seminar Bashing Whites and Jews, Media Mum

President Obama's former spiritual advisor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, gave a seminar at the University of Chicago last week in which he made numerous anti-Semitic remarks while once again attacking white people.

According to the New York Post, during the five-day course that cost up to $1,000, Wright claimed "whites and Jews are controlling the flow of worldwide information and oppressing blacks in Israel and America."

Despite the astonishingly racist comments during this week-long event, as well as his former connection to the current President of the United States, not one media outlet besides the Post reported what transpired at the Chicago Theological Seminary on the university campus. Not one!

For those that can stand it, here are some more disgraceful things uttered by the man our President worshiped with for twenty years (h/t Weasel Zippers):

"You are not now, nor have you ever been, nor will you ever be a brother to white folk," he said.

Wright referred to Italians as "Mamma Luigi" and "pizzeria." He said the educational system in America is designed by whites to miseducate blacks "not by benign neglect but by malignant intent."

The civil-rights movement, Wright said, was never about racial equality: "It was always about becoming white . . . to master what [they] do." Martin Luther King, he said, was misguided for advocating nonviolence among his people, "born in the oven of America."

"You are not now, nor have you ever been, nor will you ever be a brother to white folk," he said. "And if you do not realize that, you are in serious trouble."

He cited the writings of Bill Jones -- author of the book "Is God a White Racist?" -- as proof that white people cannot be trusted. "Bill said, 'They just killed four of their own at Kent State. They'll step on you like a cockroach and keep on movin', cause you not a brother to them.' "

Wright referred to Italians as "Mamma Luigi" and "pizzeria." He said the educational system in America is designed by whites to miseducate blacks "not by benign neglect but by malignant intent."

He said Ethiopian Jews are despised by white Jews: "And now the Knesset [Israeli parliament] is meeting with European Jews, voting on whether or not these African Jews can get into [Israel]."

The civil-rights movement, Wright said, was never about racial equality: "It was always about becoming white . . . to master what [they] do." Martin Luther King, he said, was misguided for advocating nonviolence among his people, "born in the oven of America."

"We probably have more African-Americans who've been brainwashed than we have South Africans who've been brainwashed," he said, and seemed to allude to President Obama twice: "Unfortunately, I got in trouble with a fella for saying this . . . All your commentaries are written by oppressors." At the mention of Nation of Islam head Louis Farrakhan -- whom Obama disavowed during the campaign -- black leaders "go cuttin' and duckin'," he said.

As media ignore the disgusting things this man says, they are complicit in separating him from the man he once advised spiritually.

It's as if Obama never sat in the pews of the Trinity Church and his Reverend never existed.

Did he "become white" by getting this mansion btw? Or is this a blow to "the man"?

He must suscribe to the Malcolm X view of things...circa the early 60s. Martin was correct, he brought about change from his way of doing things---the non violent way. Malcolm X was ahead of his time, what he advocated would work for today---in the cities, not in the 50s-60s South.

And I would like to hear the whole Rev. Wright "sermon". Because we all know in 21st century sensationalized media, whether lib or conservative everything gets a spin put on it, and depending what the outlet it came from, or the temp of the current conditions.

I want to know how a Rev. gets a mansion like that.  I am in the wrong biz.

Can't say I'm surprised by this response. Typical black man already laying the cards for Wright being the victim here. You're probably right. The big bad media is out to get him because he's such an important figure in the US.

I am not laying the cards for him o be the victim. I was going to put a  ::) at the end of the first sentence. You can paint a guilty man worse than what he is, I have seen it everyday, I deal with it. Whether or not he is in the Wright or wrong, he is given "street cred", by the media. For the record, I wish he'd shut up. His affiliation with Obama gave him more popularity or made him infamous, depending on the climate---or how the long the pot stays on to boil.

But, we all know how the media, can paint a demogue as well meaning misunderstood person, when in fact he is far more sinister than that. And a good person as having "moral failings", because, once a blue moon he goes to a strip club. It all depends on the outlet, the climate and the need for a juicy story.

This guy has a long history of making comments along the same lines as those in the article. While you're right that the media can indeed sensationalize people, I'm leaning towards these comments having actually come out of Wright's mouth.

He's a typical racist douche who just so happens to be black.

I'd bet with the donations he was supposed to be using to "fight the white man".

No matter what, pastors, revs, etc have always railed against the "evil empire opressors" and the "you get yours", but will drive a big Caddy...they talk to the poor, yet walk in with a 5 thousand dollar suit on. Telling people what they want to hear is big business. Telling the truth isn't. If Rev. Wright told those people that it's there responsibility  and their faults for being failures, he would make no money. No money, no mansion.
The #1 enemy of black America is their ignorance in trusting people like him abd Jesse, they want to have a enemy, when the enemy is within. I subcribe to the Dr. Cornell West ideology: I don't put white down, nor do I put white up, either way you are concentrating on it.

And that's what I was going with the Malcolm X comment, Malcolm in the beginning was focused on a enemy, and Rev Wright, seems to have that early 1960s mentality...it's funny many of these guys are stuck in the 60s (like Nascar fans and many baby boomers), but they drive brand new Mercedes Benzes, Caddys, Audis, etc.

Now, how are going have a 60s mentality, but won't drive 60s tech? Time and ideologies move on.

Good post.  I like Cornell West.  I don't agree with him on a lot of stuff, but he is a very thoughtful person who is interesting to listen to.

I don't know what there is to hear, the guy is an asshole and it's been proven time and time again. Rand Paul can't have a serious descussion about private property rights and civil rights without people calling him a racist but this idiot can preach some in your face racist  bullshit for 20 years to the current pres and no one says a damn thing about it. Lame.
