The only powder supplement I use when "cutting" is BCAA's.
I don't use them post-workout, however.
I consume about 30 g: 15 pre-wo & the rest during my workout.

Milos & Poliquin are big on this principle, and it's provided me noticeable results.

Thanks for the feedback.

So do you just eat a regular meal when you are done working out?  If so, what?

Yes - regular meal.
Usually, some type of red meat with maybe a bit of complex carbs like potatoes.

Yeah.
Aminos are the simplest component of protein.
If already in that form, they will enter the small intestine faster and, ultimately, get into your blood quicker.

Whey is fast-acting, but still must be broken down before leaving the stomach.
And, no matter what you consume, it makes more sense to take it before & during your workout so the muscles get a good supply of it while training them.
If you wait until after, you've been pumping "empty" blood into those muscles.

Depending on what time of day you train, you'll usually have some nutrients circulating in your blood.
But, considering that BCAA's are a superior amino source for muscle building, it makes sense to surround your workout with a high concentration of them.
IMO, that's beneficial whether you're bulking or cutting.

I keep it simple. If I'm trying to put on size, a weight-gainer/RTD is my post-workout shake. In the 90s, I used Mega Mass 2000 and N-Large2.

More recently, it's been Mass/Maxx Recovery or Myoplex, or (since I just got six servings of it for $7) Monster Milk.

And, when I get paid, it will be those new RTDs from Premier Nutrition, which are sold at Sam's Club (a box of 12 for $16 and change).

I still use a post workout shake with carbs right up until a week before a show. Currently I use a scoop of whey with a scoop of AAEFX's Kre Generator, which gives me amazing recovery ability. With this I will generally have some white rice.

have a little bit of carbs pre workout, fruit or fruit juice works good. all you need is 20grams of carbs or so. after your workout take in 50-100grams of starchy glucose-based carbs (rice, bread, fat free yogurt, potatoe, dextrose, matlodextrin, waxy maize).

other than that eat 4-5 meals per day every 4-5 hours and 30-50 grams of protein in each meal, along with a little vegatebles. keep carbs and fats low during these meals.

youll burn fat all day long, power your workouts, and fuel recovery.  determine the amoutn of fats/carbs in your meals based on rate of weight loss.

i received a similar deal on monster milk from my local gnc but used it more as a mrp bc of the high fat content..   i wouldnt recommend it pwo
