Which Mr. Olympia contest had the most ridiculous outcome?
« on: July 01, 2010, 10:40:01 AM »
First and foremost, the 1981 Mr. Olympia (I guess when your best friend is the promoter you're expected to win) closely followed by the 2007 Mr. Olympia. Really? Jay?  ::)

the '06 (might have been '07) Grand Prix where photo and video clearly shows Ruhl DESTROYING cutler and ronnie in every single side by side shot, but still places 3rd behind both of them.

The 2007 Olympia was the biggest debacle in the history of bodybuilding.
The fridge shouldn't have even been in the top 6.

He "looked" the best. Plus, they used Dex as a way to embarass the the others. He was a mechanism in making the others come in shape for the 2009 O. After 2008, he served his purpose.

Dickerson's win was questionable, I mean how could they let a blatant homosexual have the title 'Mr. Olympia'....I could understand giving 'him' the Ms. Olympia title though ..

Dexter rightly won that show - Jay showed up in very poor shape and Dexter just happened to be at his all-time best that night. It was a fair result.

Question - when Franco won in 1981 what was/is the general consensus as to who should have beat him?

Franco's win in '81 was almost believable because there was no one else in the show worth a damn.

Dickerson over Zane in '82 was just criminal.

The blatant contest fixing really had an effect on BBing - if Samir wouldn't have won in '83, the whole contest would have lost what little credibility it had left.

Franco's win was RIDICULOUS! But what do ya expect when the promoter happens to be his best friend, Arnold.

Oh fuck off....Platz was all legs and Weider hype.

He had sweet fuck all for an upper body. Don't believe it just because a Weider magazine told you so.

Padilla was 5'-2" and 160 lbs, way overdieted and flat. He finished in 5th for chrissakes, not even close to runner-up.

They should have called the show a draw and sent everyone home....it was that bad.

At least Franco had decent back poses and a good most muscular pose.

And Franco was no legs!

As for Padilla, you said it right there. That's how much of a joke this show was.

1980 arnold was in better shape than anyone, all that was wrong was his legs were small, meaning his quads and hams, calves were better than anyones, he was drier and more cut than almost anyone, by the time mentzer went on stage he was spilling over and looked watered.

Platz was NOT all legs in '81. Go back and look at the pics of his back, chest, delts and abs. Arms were never a strong point, but even they were up. Who cares how tall/heavy Padilla was? He was damn near perfect- not a weak bodypart and the most cut guy in the show. Roy Callender was massive and ripped- top 3. Dickerson looked better in '81 than he did the following year, when he won. Jusup Wilcosz could easily have been above Franco. Franco had no thighs to speak of and a nasty case of gyno. That's your idea of a winner?
