El Paso city hall hit by bullets fired from Mexico

El Paso City Hall Shooting Update
Filed under: Crime, International — DRJ @ 8:31 pm
[Guest post by DRJ]

Earlier this week, I posted on a report that the El Paso, Texas, City Hall was hit by bullets originating in Juarez. Six to seven bullets hit the building, including one that entered an office.

Today El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen announced the bullets were from AK-47s, the guns typically used by drug cartels:

“Allen said the bullets are consistent with the type of bullets that Mexican authorities have collected from a crime scene where a Mexican federal agent was shot and killed in Juárez and from where he believes the shots originated. Seven bullets hit City Hall from about half mile away.

He said the bullets recovered are AK-47 rounds. They are 7.62 x 39mm type of bullet.

“It is a weapon commonly used in cartels right now,” he said.”

That’s a large caliber bullet. It’s fortunate no one was hurt.

Looks like they built city hall a little too close to the border no?
I always thought city hall should be situated in the middle of the city, not on it's outskirts.

LMAO just like obama has an opinion on immigration and amnesty but has no FUKING clue as to the reality of the situation...

the border is RIGHT FREAKING THERE!!!!!!!!

when i go hunting every year we literally drive alongside the border for miles and miles...this isnt some far removed problem...

do you understand why border states are wanting to take the actions that they do now?

so what.  we bombed iraq... they gave us inspections and we didn't find anything.  Sadaam agreed to leave the country and flee to Africa, 24 hours before we attacked, and agreed to all terms.  We declined, remember ;)

the humanitarian groups don't stop shit.  If we wanted to get all rowdy with MEX, the ACLU and code pink wouldn't stop shit.  They coudln't stop a war based on a lie.

240 also said that Sarah Palin is "right almost 100% of the time", yet he smears her name in the dirt constantly, while knee padding for Obama.

yes - if a nation MEX is allowing its people to fire Aks at our govt buildings, then yes, lobbing a few back at them is a-okay.  I care not for mexico.  I do care about america and its constutition.

Face it.... if you're "okay" with americans who have done nothing wrong being carded, you are sacrificing liberty for safety.  ben Franklin sure was against that.  (not saying the bill - I'm saying everyone who gets so offended that 240 is against giving police ability to card people).

I like palin's position on many issues - i just think she's gonna run in 2012 and steal a chance to beat obama.  Again.  if she announced tomorrow "I will absolutely not run in 2012", I'd go back to ignoring her like i did when she said she was leaving public office.  But then she said she's like to run with romney, she'd be willing to run, etc... well, I'm a repub and I was the best repub running in 2012... and not someone as average as her.

:o  No, I've never been to el paso. Don't think I'll be going anytime soon, ...not with bullets flying every which way.

How big is El Paso that someone can fire a bullet in Mexico and hit it's city hall?

And what would you propose to protect against bullets... perhaps a border patrolman should have stopped the bullet instead of the side of city hall?

So what's the point? ...that it sucks to live next door to a lawless neighbour with high levels of violence?  ::)
Sorry if that doesn't seem so out of the norm for me, ..after all, we Canadians have been having to deal with you guys for a while now.

I'm wondering how much is assumption.. an AK47 can fire quite a distance, but other than general direction, say .. South.... how does the author KNOW it is coming from Mexico? It really doesnt address how it was determined..And while AK47's may be popular with drug cartels, they are also popular with every redneck south of the mason dixon line..
