^^^that. Besides Lesner had no choice but to got to the ground. Even though they weighed the same, Lesner was too heavily muscled to keep his arms up during his stand up. Carwin absolutely kicked the f**k out of him in the first round.
Lesnar has no stand up, he needs to work with a boxer until his next fight to learn how to gauge and throw punches.

Gotta disagree here, Carwin was the KO artist everyone said would expose Brocks weak chin, Brock took a beating and kept going, how is that not taking a punch? His reaction to the incoming punches was hilarious, but he still took them.

As far as conditioning, how can you say Brocks conditioning was off? He got his ass kicked for the first round, then came back the second round, got the take down and the submission.......seemed like Brock was A OK even after getting beat up the first round, Carwin on the other hand, was gassed and it was obvious.
LOL bro honestly if that was any other fight it would have been stopped 45 secs into the first round...dont get me wrong I like that they let it go but ive seen fights get stopped for way less than that...

brock got hit 2 or 3 times with solid punchs when he was standing and you saw what happend...at the very best he is a pussy who wont take a punch at the worst he is a guy who cant take a punch...

lesnar was gassed too at the end of the 1st too and he wasnt punch drunk like the other guy, Im sorry man i havent seen brock fight one well rounded individual as soon as he does he is donzo. He is a not a good grappler, a real good wrestler but not a good grappler and tonight he was shown as someone who will not take a punch...

"take a punch" as in stand there and allow someone to punch him in the face? I wouldn't either, in MMA you're kinda suppose to avoid that. ;)  Carwin came with a fury and Brock looked like a bitch running away trying to avoid it, no argument there, but Carwin dotted him on the chin a few times and Brock was able to weather the storm.

However I just watched the fight again, for the 3rd time........75% of Carwins punches missed Lesnar or hit his arms during the ground and pound.  The entire time Lesnar moved and made it noticable to the ref that he was defending or trying to get out of that position, I don't see why they would have stopped the fight.  At first I agreed with everyone adn said they would have stopped it if it was anybody else, but after watching it again and again, I changed my opinion, Carwin is a lousy shot and missed or had blocked most of the punches he threw. Obviously several landed but not as many as you first think.

And I am still going to disagree about Lesnar being gassed, he had enough to come out to round 2 and go for the take down and submission.

Like you said carwin didnt hit lesnar many times especially standing he caught him once when he was going for a take down and then with an upper cut later...you get that boxer in there with a little bit of knowledge on how to defend a take down or how to handle himself on the ground and grid lock the fight up and lesnars ass is done...

Ill give you lesnar was in better shape for round 2 than carwin but carwin was punch drunk at the end of the first round and lesnar who spent the entire round curled up in the fetal position was also gassed at the end of the first round too...

he took carwin down within the first 20 secs or so of round 2 and basically had to get passed the half guard of a limp noodle which doesnt take much energy...I wasnt impressed at all by either of these dudes

I havent seen fedor fight in a long long time but if he is anything of the fedor of old he would hand lesnar his big ass on multiple silver platters.

I agree.. Lesnar was never in trouble. His skull is too thick.

Carwin gassed fast and was useless after that. He always seems to be full of nerves in a fight. He blew his wad half way through the first round and was done.

Refs usually let it go a little longer for high profile matches, watch brock vs mir 2 and carwin vs mir. Better to have a late stoppage than risking an early one. And if you compare the pounding carwin gave on Mir with the one he gave on Lensar, you will see the difference

Nobody threw any fight. Lesnar took a BEATING and kept his hands up. Carwin gassed and that's that. If I had to guess i would imagine Carwin did not train seriously enough. He gassed WAY WAY WAY too quick. Also Lesnar looks like he has no clue what the fuck to do on his back. He really is not a developed fighter.

How much did Dana pay Carwin to do that?  The choke wasnt even close to being tight.  Very obvious that was fixed.

How much time have you ever spent in the mat? I'm going to guess zero. You have no idea what really fatigue and physical exhaustion is like.

NOTHING worse then a early stoppage though. Well death might be up there but.. lol

but especially in champ matchen they should make SURE to give them all the chances to move before they stop it etc.
RAther just a little bit too late the too early especially in a title fight

100% right! The fact that Brock came back to submit Carwin proves that the fight should not have been stopped.

Anyone else and they would of stopped it.

Brocks a beast, but come on. ::)

Matt Hughes was out when Trigg was whaling on him but came back to beat Trigg. One of the greatest fights in UFC history. Brock was fine and never looked hurt. You could tell Carwin was getting gassed. Just look at him as he stood up and backed away a bit to get his breath.

Exactly. Brock won because he was tougher and far, far better conditioned. Seriously, did he look tired at all after the fight? The guy was jumping around. Wrestlers are some of the best conditioned athletes in the world. A D1 wrestler, a D1 champ, like Brock, are conditioned beyond belief. Don't believe me? Try to wrestle for just 3 minutes.

I honestly didnt think the black guy boxer whatever his name is had a chance against lesnar but after seeing lesner ball up like a little girl after getting hit I could see a boxer beating his ass.

When you are on the ground getting whaled on balling up is exactly what you are suppose to do.

"Little girl" huh? You must be a beast in the ring or cage "tonymctones"? Maybe you should give Brock some lessons on how to fight.

What kind of background do you have in fighting? Frank Mir is a world's class BJJ fighter and submitted a Mundial BJJ champ in the cage while he was still a purple belt. His stand up game is also top notched as he showed against Nog and Kongo.

And Brock can't take a punch, eh? He was pounded for several minutes from one of the hardest strikers in the game.

Again I won't even go into Brock's superb conditioning. Stick to oiled men thongs because you know absolutely nothing -- nothing -- about fighting.

100% sure, huh? Why not just call Carwin a souless chump without a shred of honor. You know him so well?

Add another absolutely clueless idiot to this thread.

Stop watching MMA and stick to oiled men bumping into each other during a posedown as they "do battle."

Thanks for that, as has been pointed out, when you gas/fatigue especially as a Big guy its really difficult to get a second wind as in asap...Carwin punched himself out... Lesnar weathered the storm.

Fedor wouldn't last 60 seconds against Brock, sorry.

yeah, it wouldnt take fedor that long to beat brock.

you must be knew to MMA as fedor beat some of the best when they were in their primes.

he would easily KO or submit brock.  we saw tonight how brock handles punches during the stand up.

fedor wouldnt gas like shane did.

there is a reason dana never had a match outside the UFC with fedor - he knew fedor would win and then who would buy UFC ppv's featuring brock.

dana learned this lesson when he sent chuck over to PRIDE in 2004 and he lost badly.

I couldn't read half the shit some of you guys put on here.  First off I really like Lesnar.  But he is not the #1 fighter.  He has NO standup.  He cannot box at all.  he backups and does not cover up properly.  His saving factor is that he is super strong and can take a certain amount of a beating.  He covered up good enough not to get hit bad enough to be hurt.  Carwin ran out of gas way to fast.  Lesnar is not any good on his back either.  His best position is on top by far.  He is so strong and massive and knowledgeable being on top and keeping a man down.  That is what he is good at.  He can hit really good from the top and can deliver really hard short punches.  Getting a choke was something I did not expect and I thought he did really good getting it and keeping it on.  He is so strong that it helped greatly and if someone like Carwin with his strength couldn't get out of it then not many others would.

Now Lesnar is ranked #1 in the world.  But, no way in hell would he be able to beat Fedor right now.  No way in the world.  Fedor would out box him so much and with Fedor's power punches I think he would hurt Lesnar.  And I think Fedor would be smart enough to get behind Lesnar and avoid being caught on the bottom.  But, having someone like Lesnar who is NOT a complete fighter and lacks standup skills as much as he does, he shouldn't be the #1 fighter.  But, the UFC has a weak heavyweight division but there are a couple out there that could beat him.  I think Lesnar  can get better though,

Brock is big, strong, super tough and a great disciplined athlete. He will only get better. But you're right. Too many holes for someone like Fedor and maybe even Overeem. The HW division is weak and that is his saving grace.
