John,

my current favourite tipple is a pint glass filled to 3/4's full with Guinness and then topped up with port to the pint mark. A night drinking these usually leads to making an utter twat of yourself, falling over and vomitting up purpley black stuff. Good times!

Not much of a scotch/whisky man, but will drink JD at a push.

Purple,

i would throw up after just a couple of those drinks. i cannot drink much of anything, port, wine, vodka, most liquors, even beer without having a brutal hangover or worse. for some reason though i can drink like 10-12 bourbon drinks and be just fine though. thats all i can drink.

Yeah I stick with bourbon (Jim Beam usually) and scotch. Almost always Macallan 15 or Walker Gold. Man, JW gold is just so good...Gentleman jack is OK at best. Not a fan.

Yeah, I'm the same with rum. All my really bad hangovers occur when I drink beer most of the night and then switch to spirits.

Sailor Jerry.

x2. Although it can be a bit sickly the next day.

I got the 3 pack, Black Label, Gentleman Jack and Single Barrel gift set for my birthday; the Single Barrel is the most expensive and definitely quality whiskey but I still prefer the Gentleman Jack over it.

Single barrel is dangerously good.  I do bourbon and irish whiskeys.  I find scotch to be not my favorite.  Very oily, smokey, and not as fun to drink as a tenessee or bourbon whiskey, or an irish whiskey.

Haha, brilliant! Nothing beats the feelings of self loathing that follows a good session.

I don't understand people who can't not drink, or can't have a beer or two and then stop.  If you only had 2 beers in the fridge and the shops and bars were closed then you wouldn't have any more and you'd be fine.  So how is it a 'disease?'  If you want to not drink then don't drink.

Forgive the judgemental rant.  I've delt with an 'alcoholic' irl, but she's not an alcoholic imo.  She's a drama and escapism addict who uses self destruction to get attention and keep everyone on eggshells.  ::)

I drink probably 3-4 times a year, and can go months on end without touching any alcohol. Getting smashed a few times a year is cool, doing it week in week out doesn't suit me, plus it is too expensive.

Most people my age around here are fuckin alcoholics........will be interesting to see how some of them turn out in later years.
No doubt about it...

I drank pretty heavily back in the day.  Don't let this happen to you, kids!  :(

But I never felt like I couldn't stop and I never had a 'craving.'  If I knew any real alcoholics I'd probably understand better and be more sympathetic but all I've seen so far is people being excused from taking responsibility for their actions.  I probably sound like a jackass but there it is.
