Lesnar or Cain
« on: July 09, 2010, 12:03:22 PM »

This is a hard one!  Both have great wrestling.  Both have cardio.  Cain has much better stand up.  Brock has the size advantage.  Interesting...

Another great and interesting match-up.

After Carwin, I will never doubt Lesnar again.  The guy is a beast, and most likely would keep fighting if you tore his legs off.

If I were a betting man, I would go with Lesnar by GNP TKO.

But I will still be rooting for Cain. ;D

I think this fight has the potential to end in decision with Cain outscoring Lesnar...

I could see that, but what do you think will happen when Lesnar takes it to the ground?

Cain has outstanding wrestling and ground game, but I just can't overlook the size/strength difference.

I just don't see Cain defending a takedown from Lesnar very well.

I'm with you on that.  It's hard to imagine Cain stuffing the takedown, but I keep hearing about how Cain's wrestling is on par with Lesnars and how he is used to dealing with bigger guys.  It'll be interesting.  If Lesnar gets the take down, Cain is screwed.

I agree.

I really didn't like Lesnar much until this Carwin fight, he showed he has heart and is a tough SOB. Plus the post fight interview really impressed me and showed that he really is a good honest guy who admits his mistakes.

I think Lesnar will pull off another win very similar to the Carwin fight.

I would even like to think that Cain could catch Brock like he did Nog, but even if he gets a clean shot, I am not so sure if it would take Brock out.

One thing about Cain is that he has shown relentless cardio and he can keep a good pace.

Things are real good right now in the UFC HW div.

I agree. Many people have stated that the "Athlete Brock" is much different than "Normal Brock". I now believe it.
He is more than a great Athlete as I previously thought, to take a beating like that and stand right back up in the same round, is almost inhuman.

He won me over, but I also like Cain. He has worked hard for his shot. May the best man win. ;D

Agree on all points, i'd like to see a slugfest between these two and the best man win.

People will learn from the Carwin fight and stay outside, Cain wont gas and will last more than 3 mins.

Still though I would take Brock.

I was amazed when Brock stood up for round two in the Carwin fight and smiled at him.
that must have been pretty disheartening

Not as disheartening as when Brock stood up before the first round was over, that had to crush Shane mentally.

Hard to call this one..I think Lesnar might edge out a victory...however against Junior Dos Santos there will be no victory..

would love to see Lesnar / Overreem

Now that Brock has had a whopping six professional fights, everyone knows he is now invincible. I say he will slaughter Cain and go on to be 35-1 (winning thirty straight) before retiring.

I could imagine being 280 pounds, hitting a guy with ALL you got for almost 4 min connecting thinking hes out etc etc

and baam, he stands up and almost takes your ass down.

Wtf is a man supposed to do then?

I agree with Benny. Lesnar should hold the title belts of every weight class in the UFC and then systematically fight every champion one by one. That's the only way to make these fights fair. Lesnar is the greatest MMA fighter ever.

Brock would get assassinated if he ever got in the cage with Overreem, Alistair manhandled Brett Rogers (who knocked out brock in sparring numeours times) like a bitch.

Please post your source showing that Rodgers KO'd Lesnar.
Overeem has a slight chance against Brock, but even with all the drugs, he is still much smaller.

Like Mindspin has stated before, Brock naturally carries the muscle he has. Many of these other guys have to work and lift specially just to carry it.

Big difference in cardio when you do this.

Bottom line, Overeem really has a small chance of beating Brock.

He tapped to Mir's knee bar pretty damn fast.  Even before Mir tore his leg off.

Amazing how much he has evolved since. He would never tap today.

Thanks for sharing and reminding us.
