And right on cue.........
TMZ just spoke to Rev. Jackson, who said, "Mel Gibson's outburst demonstrates once again that we are far from a society that is 'beyond race and racism.' His penchants for anti-Semitic and racist diatribes reveal the actor's fundamental character flaw."
Jackson adds, "He needs help. But as a society we must redouble our efforts to combat racism and eradicate racial inequalities wherever they may exist."
Reverend Al Sharpton's National Action Network is also weighing in ... telling TMZ, "The use of the "N" word and calling women denigrating terms combined with Gibson being accused of anti-semitism makes us wonder whether he is an outright bigot. We intend to aggressively look into this matter."
I just knew it wouldn't be long before these two assholes started chirping, being the attention whores that they are. Mel Gibson is a complete jerk and has obvious issues, we all get that. However, in this instance, it would seem that a private conversation was taped. His remarks were definitely inflammatory, but were not expressed in public. I might also suggest that he could have been baited a bit into going off. Now, everyone will be quick to make hay from this. What the hell is Sharpton going to aggressively look into? To most of the critics that will come out of the woodwork, it will matter little as to the manner that Gibson spoke to the mother of one of his children. The focus will center around the racially charged comments made by Mel because that is sexier and will get people's attention more so. Though inappropriate, a lot of people make politically incorrect and even racist comments every day. The last time I checked, and in spite of his notoriety, Mel Gibson is a person too. He is just as fallible as anyone else. Where is the surprise in that?
