That is the record. This is the Super Sport version. It's the last of the line for this Veyron. They added NACA ducts up top instead of the exposed intakes, and rounded the back area and did more to the aero. And having 1200 hp helps as well.

Yeah, allegedly they are doing a Panamera Coupe a la 928, which will set them up as a 599/599 replacement competitor. But, VW might bend them over again and not let that happen. VW is now trying to position the Porsche brand as sporty, they can not directly have top tier products that compete against Lambo, which is run by Audi. This means that there will be more Porsche branded VW products, basically creating more bastardization of Porsche. And supposedly the Audi R5/VW Bluesport/Porsche 356 will share the same platform...

And Head of Ferrari said that the upcoming 599 replacement will be more extreme than the 599 GTO. So for Porsche to take that on they have to at least have 650 hp out of the TT V8.
