I am friendly witha  Jeweller/Diamond merchant.

i asked him one day what was the most expensive ring he sold. I expected to hear something like £30,000

He said £127,000. I near shit. Apparently the stone itself cost something silly like £70,000.

This guy is a legitimate multi-millionaire though.

In-fact Dublin and other cities in Ireland have very good market for gemstones unlike UK which is mainly conservative diamond. Most people don't know but diamond is not rare stone at all and in-fact there are many mines for diamond all over the world. Diamond has and always will be combination of great marketing and originally Cartel supply control by the De beers group

I have seen in Thailand and in New York some Natural untreated Ruby stones worth well over 1million USD. Most expensive piece i ever had was $60,000 - 120 carat Tanzanite piece. However, my brother and lot of dealer who specialise in diamond, sapphire and ruby have had very expensive pieces, well over $200,000 - all depends on the piece and current market price however.

Well mainly the market for high price pieces is just dominated by super rich and often they are always repeat customers.

A lot of people who buy from our UK shops are usually wealthy women who will just keep adding to their collections every couple of months.

You have to remember, gemstones and diamonds may sound frivolous and crazy value, but honestly when you work with them on a day to day basis you actually have real joy seeing a beautiful piece. Again many will also hold as investment just like art collectors spend millions of dollars on certain paintings which could be done by a 5 year old.

see I wouldn't mind getting married in bermuda or bahamas or some place tropical, have family and friends go (their dime not mine) and just have a great week celebrating.

Destination weddings are great.  Everyone gets a reasonably priced vacation and the wedding doesn't end up costing a fortune.  Sunset beach ceremony = beautiful!

You dumbfucks are exactly that for spending that kind of cash on a broad that you have over 50% chance (if you're in America) of getting a divorce....funk dat....I spent 500.00 for me and my wife and we've been married 11 years....Now that she's put up with me so long she DESERVES an expensive ring.

I was in Tanzania in 2008 and have direct access to AAA tanzanite.  Yes, it's only found in some caves there and no where else on that planet... I bought my wife an expensive piece as an investment.

Curious to what carat weight you got your Tanzanite piece and price you paid for it. Thanks Wiggs.

buy the ring from the Gold Souk in Dubai - if you're willing to haggle you can score some killer deals

you can literally fly there, buy a ring, and fly back for half the price of the same ring back home

expensive rings in the beginning of a marriage is a gross misappropriation of funds...way to start out in the hole or with money that could have been used on important shit.

Why do you have to have one?  Doesn`t make sense.  I guess people still marry morons as there is certainly not a shortage of morons.  I will never understand the incredibly stupid things people do and the customs/traditions they follow for no apparent reason whatsoever.  ???

I like this way of thinking...

We could have gotten diamond studded rings.  Neither of us were interested in that crap.  I secretly laugh at any man I see wearing lots of bling of any kind.  ::)

What's up with the gay little purse thing he's got there? Why does he have that?

I payed about $1600 for both the engagement ring and wedding band combined. Custom made though so noone will have one like it unless they happen to miraculously choose the same design, etc.
I was originally planning on not going over $1200 as I agree that it is not the smartest thing to go overboard and put a strain on the marriage by being in debt for a monster ring, etc., but it is very hard to find anything nowadays in that price range.

3 carats a little over $1,500...AAA quality....A fucking great deal....Never got it appraised here in the U.S.....yet.  I know the prices have been rising like crazy.  This is why I bought it.  Get you AAA tanzanite while you can cause when it's scheduled to be finished mining in 2019....then no more...

One girl told me she expects 3 months salary! ??? :o

I expect to dish out 10-15k depending on what I am earning at the time.

This gold-digger needs to have her feet in concrete. After that it's easy to trow her of the bridge into a river as food for fish.
