JNN I'm interested in hearing how you would go about incorporating this into a weight training workout and could you do all your sets tabata style? Thanks!
this is what i like to do
I like to do 3 tabata runs during the week in the morning on empty stomach before breakfast. I go to a local track to do it. Pretty simple, sprint as hard as i can for twenty, jog for ten
then I do a tabata circuit after my weight workouts in the PM. The circuit I usually make up that day and is mostly consitent of kettlebells, a burpee variation and some sort of compound, explosive movement (like power snatches)
two things to keep in mind:
- Using the Ratings of Perceived Exertion, on a scale from 1-10, you should be looking to be at a 11 during your "sprint" rounds
- invest in a "gymboss" interval timer (
www.gymboss.com) or get a tabata app on your smart phone. Trust me, you'll need it. If you decide to do tabata runs at a track then I strongly you use a gymboss timer over a cell phone app though
