Congratulations to Ben White for defying all odds and beating an incredible looking Troy Alves to capture the title. Ben White, Troy Alves and Johnnie Jackson are all going to the 2010 Mr. olympia to compete.
I remember a bet that Bob Cicherillo did saying that Ben white won't even make the top five, and that Darrem Charles was going to win this contest.
Hmmm.....
2010 Tampa Pro Men’s Bodybuilding results
1 - Ben White (USA)
2 - Troy Alves (USA)
3 - Johnnie Jackson (USA)
4 - Edward Nunn (USA)
5 - Michael Kefalianos (Australia)
Great job!! Now, is White actually going to compete in the Olympia? Or is he still doing that "World's Strongest Bodybuilder" thing against Stan Efferding (BTW, did Efferding compete in this show? White referred to him as a
"powerlifter who occasionally competes in bodybuilding shows, usually placing in the top 17, if he's lucky").
Can he do both, per IFBB rules? I know how Draconian they can be, regarding letting people compete in multiple Olympia events. They banned the 202-guys from doing the open Olympia after 2008, when Kevin English and Dave Henry did both (Earlier that year, English won the 202 at the NY Pro and placed second to Kai Greene in the overall. Rumor had it that English actually got MORE MONEY than Greene, by doing that; hence, we have the ban).
Back in the day, they banned Masters Olympia competitors from doing the regular Olympia after 1995 (when the late Sonny Schmidt won the Masters and placed 13th in the regular O).
I hope the IFBB lets White do both contests (WSBB and Mr. Olympia). But, based on the history I just mentioned, I wouldn't bet on it.
