"Sambo is great. Jiu-jitsu is nothing special. We went over several jiu-jitsu guys like that before. I lost because of what happened.  My loss was caused by my personal mistake in the cage… I lost my head. Wanted to finish it all as soon as possible."

"As far as the rumours about my last fight being set up... I was asked about it many times already. I will never go against my conscience and never betray my country like that. Money doesn't matter that much to me that I could lie to people. Since I lost to Werdum, it was meant to be. And I'm thankful to God it happened that way."

jujitsu is a brazilian form of judo

Japanese Jiu Jitsu--> Judo---> BJJ is the historical progression.

He got caught in a move that most BJJ blue belts can pull off with ease and that he easily would have escaped from if he wasn't bone dry. Werdum deserves all the credit in the world and Fedor lost the fight fair and square, but lets be honest-- He lost the fight because he lost his composure and went for the quick finish instead of being patient. He didn't lose because BJJ is this other worldly martial art that stands head and shoulders above everything else. When a BJJ guy gets ass raped in the ring by a great wrestler, is the BJJ guy supposed to renounce BJJ and decare wrestling to be the superior form of fighting? Of course not.

Good points. But you do realize that Fedor is the one that stated Sambo is superior to BJJ. IMO neither is better necessarily as you explained. It is just how it is used.

On that night BJJ "appeared" to be superior.

some truth to that. Eddie Bravo stated that he hates to get punched and hates to punch people. Almost an anti-fighter. Yet 10th planet is doing very well.
