Migrants sell up and flee Arizona ahead of crackdown
« on: July 25, 2010, 07:08:15 PM »
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/us_usa_immigration_arizona

"scores of illegal immigrant families across Phoenix hauling the contents of their homes into the yard this weekend as they rush to sell up and get out before the state law takes effect on Thursday."

"The law, the toughest imposed by any U.S. state to curb illegal immigration, seeks to drive more than 400,000 undocumented day laborers, landscapers, house cleaners, chambermaids and other workers out of Arizona, which borders Mexico."

hmmmm imagine if the US govt enforced the similiar law they have on the books...

id make a wager that its doesnt at least not in nov...the economy would have to make a 180 and unemployment would have to be real low...

may pass but not this year...

$10 bucks says it doesnt pass by the end of the year

I'm betting the lame duck dems will give it to obama.  who konws tho.

Or, cap/trade.  he'll push for one of them if the dems lose the house.

im pretty sure the dems are done cramming things down the throat of the American public that they dont approve of by a wide margin at least this close to november...

after november the reps will in all likelihood take enough seats to stop legislation if they all vote no...they might pass immigration reform but I would hope that most politicians have come to realize that the majority of america doesnt want amnesty and they will heed that advice.

While many Arizonans will cheer for the illegals "fleeing" their state, it is worrying that many of the illegals will just go to other states and noone seems to care about it. (in the article it says one of them will go to.. Pennsylvania!)
The purpose is to send the illegals back to where they came from, not just to drive them out of Arizona. Is ICE going to monitor all those illegals and where they go?

ya I read that as well and it is the role of the federal govt to make sure or borders are secure and detain and deport illegals...all arizona can do is take care of the situation in their own state.

Pa has a huge hispanic population so they can't pass any laws to curb ilegals.

Good for Ariz, at least they're doing something.

They are not leaving the US, just Arizona.  They'll just go to another state where they'll get a job and go on with their life as illegal immigrants.

I know that loco but what if the federal govt started to enforce the similar law they had on the books? what if more states passed laws like this?

where would they have left to go?

The federal government wants illegal immigrants to stay.

True, but you should've realized by now that the Fed doesn't work in our best interests. The big businesses that our government is in bed with need the cheap labor that illegal immigrants provide, so they'll pull strings and keep things the way they are now.

Exactly, plus illegal immigrants using fake Social Security numbers or numbers belonging to dead people are contributing much to Social security, but will never collect those benefits.

Amazing how this law has had a deterrent effect and it's not even enforceable yet.

I immediately thought the same thing upon reading the first post.

Which other states are considering enacting a similar law?

You're REALLY using that as an argument in favor of illegal immigration? Get the fuck out of here.
