I thought about this as I watched Ninja Assassin last night. They had a female Europol agent (Naomie Harris) being "saved" by the Ninja (played by Korean pop star Rain). The story would have been better withou her. Just like the first Blade movie, it would have been better without N'Bushe Wright.

Strong minded women in movie's can be a good or they can be a curse. The trend now is to show men as bumb;ing idiots and women as the problem solvers, thereby emascualting the man. It could be done to get more women into the theaters, but it sends a negative and confusing image to men and images like the Twilight men are praised. Anytime overt male attributes are shownits viewed as negative, men who show more feminie attributes opposite women who show more male attributes are applauded.

If more action movies had characters like Lara Croft,Xena, or like the Danger Girl comicbook by J. Scott Campbell, it would be good. Instead they either want to feed us, Red Ridding Hood characters that either get eaten by the Wolf or the Wolf is more a sheep and Red is portrayed as Kali incarnate.
