So insurance companies have a list of certs which they recognize?  Do you mean you can't get insurance w/o cert or that it will cost you more?  Is it illegal to operate as a PT if you're uninsured?

That's correct.  No certification... no insurance.  You can operate as a PT uninsured but it would be very stupid to do so.  It would be easy for a person to claim they were injured by you and sue for damages

They could do that now.  Seems like you'd have less of a chance of getting sued if clients knew you didn't have insurance since they'd have far less to gain by suing an individual who wasn't backed by a big company.

Don't rely your insurer's integrity, Vince.  Those guys are in the business of taking payments and then finding ways not to pay claims.  What a racket.

You never know who's going to sue you and its happenning much more often with the economy since people are looking for ways to cash in.  Heck even the Season 2 winner of "The Biggest Loser" as well as Julian Michaels is being sued for PT negligence.

Since I train people with little or no equipment, have proper credentials, and make people sign waivers its unlikely that anyone will try to sue me but its good to have insurance just in case.

Vince so you train people at your house or somwhere else?  Just curious since you stated little or no equipment is being used.

Hell yeah, 75% I honestly didn't even read the true false questions. I guessed on them. Now that I am a certified trainer, I'm going out to squat on my stability ball.

Thats not why they won't sue you.  People sue to get something.  What the fuck do you have to sue for.  What are they going to get a drawer full of stinky used dildos

Good thinking. Work that core and get your "stabilizer muscles" "involved"

You'll be packing on the mass in no time.  ::)

Stabilizer muscles, what the hell are they? That wasn't on the test :-[  Are you making things up to confuse me? I'm certified, so don't think you know more than me damnit!

Yes, but it would be useless.  If you got sued, then the first thing the plaintiff would say for argument is that you weren't certified and that you should have never been doing any personal training to begin with.

I train people at their homes or at a park.  I rarely train people at gyms.

Thanks Vince just curious. Do the parks have like dip and chin bars etc? I mean something that gives resistance like in building muscle.

The resistance I utilize is their own bodyweight and gravity.   I am going to start using Lebert Equalizer bars and their Buddy System Straps soon but none of that is required for someone that wants to get back in shape which is the majority of clients

I agree it's prudent to have it.  I'm required by law to carry public liability and workers comp so I do, as well as vehicle insurances.  I despise insurance companies tho.  In the last 5 years I've seen them do their best to engineer a system whereby they basically never have to pay a workers comp claim.  I hope I never have to deal with them.

I could mooch off a woman just as well but let me make things clear.  I don't have any trouble paying bills.  My business covers pretty way more than my actual expenses.

You claim you are bi-sexual but are in a committed relationship with a bloke. How did you figure out which sex was preferable to live with? I am sure the Flotsam would like to know how you came to this decision.

Well, drkaje, what I mean is it would be amusing to see the way Goodrum's brain works. He is always thinking about saving his pennies. I don't think I have heard of anyone else choosing the gay lifestyle to save pennies. He claims he can pay his bills but he qualified it by saying 'covers pretty way more than my actual expenses". Something not fair dinkum in that justification.

The same logic that you use when you decide to take pictures of random young boys.  Its what you like.
