Obama gives himself a grade of 'incomplete' after 18 months
By the CNN Wire Staff

(CNN) -- It's still too early to judge his administration, President Barack Obama says.

In an interview broadcast on the CBS "Sunday Morning" program, Obama gave himself a grade of "incomplete" on the first 18 months of his presidency.

While citing some accomplishments, Obama said the true measure of success will be when the economy has rebounded fully and people are feeling better about it.

"We still have a long way to go," Obama said.

Asked if he felt his administration wasn't getting the credit it deserved, he laughed and answered, "Yes," then offered an explanation.

Coming out of the worst recession since the Great Depression, Americans still want to see a full recovery before they'll believe the worst is over, Obama said.

"People have every right to be scared, to be angry, to be frustrated," he said. "I don't expect the American people to be satisfied when we're only half of the way back."

The president also said he understands that criticism comes with the job.

"One of the things when you're president is folks are going to direct attention when things aren't going right at you," he said.

Still, he listed the successes so far -- preventing an economic depression, saving the auto industry, passing health care reform -- and said: "That's not a bad track record."

When all is said and done and his White House days are over, Obama said, he most looks forward to spending more time with his daughters.

"That's why I do what I do," he said. "I want to make sure that when they have kids, we've got an America that's strong."

You don't know who my favorite politician is.   ::)  You liberals are just completely obsessed with Palin.  lol . . .

I'm actually not surprised by what's happening.  Obama campaigned as a far left liberal.  He's governing as a far left liberal.  We got exactly what we voted for.

this is true.  Obama is doing most of the things he said he would do.  Everyone was so shocked he got universal healthcare thru.  he said he would do it.  Same with fin reg, stim bill, etc.  Most presidents just don't have the votes to push things thru.

Hardly anything to be proud of.  He rammed through legislation by barely being able to convince his own party to vote for it.  Big deal.

I dont think that bothers him.  He achieved his goals.  his own ideology, no matter how we judge it, is being fulfilled.  his legacy will be that he got shit done.  Whether or not we agree it was the right thing to do, is another story.

His legacy will be ramming socialist crap down the American's people's throats that will take years to correct.

bush got us afghan and iraqi bases and oil/pipeline positioning for decades to come.  Toss the morality out the window, and he kicked some serious ass for long-term strategic planning.  This is a good thing.  I've said that for years.
