Quoted for the truth.

Just hit up a dealer, and try on some. If you want to do research, try http://www.watchuseek.com/site/forums.htm

If you want to go iconic style watches for that price, rolex submariner, omega speedmaster, maybe breitling navitimer and omega planet ocean.

If you want to go something different, look at Sinn, Panerai, glashuette. If your budget stretches, or prepared to go second hand IWC.

Find what you like, and what looks good and don't worry about what others think

Great suggestions.

Coach, the watch market is MUCH broader than it once was. There's a lot of great looking, automatic, stylish watches out there in your price range. Hit up a Tourneau store or grab the WatchTime special edition that came out last month and do a little shopping before you settle on some gay ass Omega, Tag Heur or Rolex (unless it's a stainless Daytona w the black mother of pearl face and black leather band).

No offense meant to the tasteless chaps who wear the above.

You must have a half million in the bank to blow 5 grand on a watch.
Congratulations.

I know people with much more, who wear a $20 watch.  Some have cash, but don't care about foolish things like an overpriced watch.
It's like the guy who buys a Jaguar, instead of a less expensive car that goes just as fast.
It's status symbol garbage.
That's the point here.

Jesus man, are you just constantly sitting on a dildo?  You have to relax a little.

Teh coach works 20 hour days and supports a family.  I realize that he who dies with most toys still dies, but blasting him for wanting to spend 5 k on a watch is just silly.  Don't be such a fucking democrat.

I picked up a nice Sinn watch for Christmas last year in Frankfurt. I think it's as nice as my IWC. Rolex/Breitling/Omega are nice, but expect to see them often. If you're looking for something "different" try B.R.M. I have the B.R.M. V12 and many people ask about it.

Joe, def go for a Rolex. There usually don't increase in value unless you buy gold, but they will keep most of their value and if you buy a nice certified used one you will always be able to sell it for what you paid. Just be prepared to spend about $500 a year on upkeep. Do this and it will last to pass on to your kids.

And they, too, can be tasteless watch-wearers!

I got a heck of a deal on a Bulova.  I went to Macy's and the had their watches 50-60% off.  I got another 20% off for opening a Macy's account.  Had $100 that was a father's day gift so I put that toward it.  I walked out of there with less than a little over $100 of my money in the watch and a extended warrenty included.  Paid and closed the Macy's account off before interest was charged.  Everytime I get a compliment on my watch I laugh and tell the story.  Love the watch!!

No...not for my for my "boyfriend" you sick bastards, for me. B-day is coming up and I'm buying myself a watch. Client suggested I get what he has a 'Roger "Dubois Excaliber Trubillion", after looking it up I've decided I'm not going to mortgage my house and have my wife leave me ::) So I want something a little more practical. Any suggestions?
