Lately I've been using 250iu every 5 days and 50mg clomid 3x/week and my nuts are just fine.  HCG gives me pseudo-gyno (i.e., puffy nips) so I try to use as little as possible.

250 IU's every 3-5 days I think is a good rule of thumb.  I think too much HCG can actually cause the opposite effect and some guys over do it.  I would use bigger doses post cycle.

that doesn't really make sense to me.

I think it really depends on your test levels bro.  Do you know what your levels are during a cycle?  Do you get your levels checked during a cycle?  I would want to know before I ever used HCG.  My test levels have never dropped below normal on a cycle and after a cycle.  Meaning they've been well over the high end of normal I think almost 3000 one time and when I came off dropped back down to the mid range of normal like 400 if I remember correctly.  So I think before you ever use hcg just get a baseline idea of where your levels are.  Otherwise you're shooting in the dark.  Some guys I know who had major problems coming off had to use 2500IU twice a week before their nuts came back.  Sometimes that backfires and hcg can shut you down even worse.  Just depends.

I mean before a cycle.  Basically do you know off cycle where your natural test levels fall compared to where they are post cycle and during cycle?  How long does it take to return to your baseline?

Studies show 500iu e3d is the optimal amount. Read Dr. John Crislers take on HCG. Any other dose is up to you, and I don't know how it will work for you.
