Recent Ronnie compared 2 Ronnie off season pre 2003 Olympia
« on: August 24, 2010, 01:42:01 AM »
He's looking better than I ever thought he would again.
The tricep will never be the same again but the back has regained alot somehow.
It seriously makes me wonder if he will do a show.
I think the best he could look is something like the Holland Grand Prix
after the 2006 Olympia where he really peaked; but with a possibly better back.
Ronnie now:

2006 Holand Grand Prix - I've heard the audience were pulling for Ronnie at this show.
He did look better than at the Olympia and Jay had lost a bit.

I just posted the non-HQ version of that video on my board [link in signature].  I was going to post it here.  I think you are absolutely correct.

Could Ronnie make the top six?

A few more from Holland 2006 from MD.
I think this look is about the best he could hope for.

If he came in his Holland shape he could make the top six.
He can get by without the tricep but if he can't bring the gut down some
and have his back at least 90% of old he shouldn't compete.

His gut sticking out is largely his own fault.  Why on earth does Ronnie prance from side-to-side on stage displaying his gut?  Is it really so difficult to simply not do that?  He would not be guaranteed a win if he came back to compete, so if he wants to place as high up on that ladder as possible, he would have to not do that.  And I agree with you, I think top six is realistic.  He has more mass than 90% of pros today.

Ronnie's gut doesn't look good but he's also not in  the same shape he was in years ago. He is just a little fat/watery. Give him some time. He could very well win the O again, or at least get top 3. His back looks SO MUCH better right now, as good as it did in 2003. Never underestimate the man.

Only saw the video and it still seems to have the samelat problem. I dn't see a difference. Same for the tricep though it's not that clear from the video, you only get a glimpse of it.

I don't know if the guy has really a problem sayng goodbye to his competitive years and in that case he's even more stupid than I thought. At least, Yates knew when he was done and accepted it though he always said that he missed it like hell. Or it's just a way to cash on his status somehow maintaining it alive. Either way, it's not good, he's either delusional or he doesn't know what to do next.

unlike yates even with tears ronnie was still the better looking bodybuilder...so he should have probably won #9.  but they wanted him tied with haney.  as far as today...let him stay on his retirement tour.

yeh i agree.........i think they were REALLY eager to knock ronnie off, people were bored with him winning, many wanted jay to be mr O

because i really didnt see any significant decline between 05 and 06 at all really...........i dont even think he looked that bad in 07, definatly not 4th place

jay looked liek shit in 06 and 07

The thing is it was getting more and more boring as Ronnie was still dominating as he was declining, the field was shit during a good part of his reign (Dennis James, Gustavo Badell-c'mon, a half-body Levrone, Gunter, etc....). So it was better to get him off the picture, it somehow made things look better or less worse.

that just shows you what a fucking inhuman MUTANT Ronnie was...............the fact that he could still dominate, as he was declining.......the gap was so wide between him and the other competitors that year after year he looked worse.............but still no one was really close to him

jay was never really all that close to him...........not the 06-07 version of jay...............the 09 version yeh

but yeh, the competition during the early to mid 2000s dropped...........past prime levrones adn shawn ray.......then dennis, gustavo, and melvin........there were some lean years there.............not like now, he would have a hard time doing that now, cause there are a bunch of great young guys

The competition has gotten better, true, this last two three years. Still nothing like the mid-90s though.

Your correct, if he did the O it wouldn't be pretty.  Should just retire and have people remember him when he was on top.  He wouldn't crack the top 10..  The man is a living legend and should keep it that way with dignity...

If he is going to come back, he should try to look like 1996 rather than 2007.  In other words, lighten up and try to shrink the gut.  Maybe a lighter bodyweight wouldn't accentuate the torn tricep and quad as much.

I love how every year this bullshit starts..
Ronnies back is fixed....
His tricep is back...

Top 3 easy no doubt...
Then he diets down and BAM all his shit is fucked even worse..
Get over it guys, hes been steadily going down hill for years, hes fucking old, he was fucking old when he started winning O's but he was a mutant and he could get away with it...
Dudes not gonna come back, and if he does, hes not gonna do well. Age and injuries have taken there toll, and hes finally succumbing to Pulomboism. He looks fine offseason.
Every year it s the same shit. Lol.

Ronnie looked great at that show, that was probably the hardest he has ever been at such a high bodyweight (harder than 03 and 04).
