sean connery - another great scot and almost mr universe

i was reading about bill pearl and discovered he won the 1953 Mr universe, beating Sean Connery who finished 3rd  :o :o

all this time i admired his acting skills, his alpha male persona, his movies, his treatment of women, the way he never took any shit from anyone, the way he saw a woman and took her - including from 'London gangster' types, who he then proceeded to bitch slap ( a typical outcome when London gangsters meet a Scot)

now i can add bodybuilder !

what a man, what a Scot, what a getbigger.

Hmmm, I do know he competed in a few big shows; according to Bob Hoffman in his book ???

Chick ,ok, so no record of 3rd in the U 'eh? Hmm, any reocrd or data on how those hats he wore were among the Mr U competitors?

it has been verified via multiple sources that he finished 3rd.

bill pearl himself says it, sean himself says it.

Hmm..interesting. I always thought it was common knowledge that Sean placed well in a Mr Universe contest of some description, but Chick knows his bodybuilding history so maybe we can get to the bottom of this, i.e., what contest was it that Sean/Tom Connery ever competed in?

Whats interesting, is that his own website has him placing 3rd at the 1950 Universe, but I cant seem to find anything to support that.  He is listed as competing in the 53 Universe, but not placing at all...

You looked up the wrong name for the '53 Universe.
He competed as Bond...James Bond.
He got 3rd but ended up scoring with the head judges wife, so they deleted him off the official record ;)

I heard a rumor that the Wieders banned him from future shows? Something about shooting a speargun at another guy during a beach photo session? True ???

I always thought he place 3 rd in the tall catergory or something. Not that it matters at all agents will say anything about their actors.  It's like a resume, it turns out to never be the full truth.
