The thing Marijuana lobbyist must do is not to go for the outright legalization on the ballot.  What needs to happen first is to minimize the punishment for possession.  I think most people would be OK with the idea of getting a fine rather than gobble up state resources for probation and drug counseling when it isn't needed.  When they start the "weed should be legal" agenda that makes people uneasy and they think "it will destroy our communities". 

For all of the money that comes in trying to change Marijuana laws not a lot of benefit comes out.  Medical Marijuana was a good thing but it does not help the average guy out there who still faces harsh penalties just for smoking a blunt instead of sucking down booze.  Start small and work our way up.

Hate to break it to you, but you can get addicted to weed. Some of the worst addicts I ever met were addicted to weed, because they were so deeply in denial. these people I met in rehab. Its a mental addiction. Not a physical one.

That being said, I dont believe that it should be illegal. Its no different than cigarrettes. In fact, cigs are far more addictive than mj. But to say MJ has no addictive properties is assinine. Any chemical that operates on your rewards pathway is mentally addictive to those pre-disposed to addiction.

MJ works on the reward pathway in the brain just like all other drugs, it releases dopamine, which will cause addiction in people that are predisposed to it. Some of it is willpower. But very little.

look dude I have no problem with people who smoke weed but it is stupid to say that its totally harmless. You can rationalize it anyway you want to but the bottom line is that its a drug just like everything else. It creates chemical changes in the brain just like all other drugs. You might not be robbing people to get it and shit, and it might not be as destructive, but its the same shit.
