Fantasy Football Thread 2010
« on: September 05, 2010, 11:52:36 PM »
Post your teams, your questions etc....

I actually had the last pick but we snaked our draft so I had the last and the first pick of every other round

I think I did pretty good especially with 14 teams in the league...

Reggie Wayne
Donald Driver
Johnny Knox
Ray Rice
Matt Forte
Jermicheal Finley
Mike Wallace
Thomas Jones
Big Ben Rapelisburger...hi earl  :D
Danieal manning(DB who does returns)
Minnesota defense

still need a kicker, linebacker and a QB for the first 4 games

carson palmer is still available who is probably who I will snag but so is jay cutler...

Would definitely take Palmer over Cutler.   I'd take him over Big Ben too.

That's a good team from the no. 14 spot in a 14-team league.  Nice job.

Just had my two drafts, with zero prep.   :-\  Came up with:

Winners League (from the six spot--my favorite)
QB:  Rivers, Ryan
RB:  Gore, Mendenhall, Portis, T. Jones, Dixon
WR:  S. Smith, Driver, T.O., A. Gonzalez
TE:  Winslow
K:  Vinateiri
DEF:  Giants

Regular League (from the 2 spot--hate that spot)
QB:  Palmer, McNabb
RB:  Peterson, Matthews, Spiller, Dixon, Gerhart
WR:  D. Jackson, T.O., S. Moss, Edwards
TE:  Winslow
K:  Kaeding
DEF:  Niners

Both twelve team leagues.  Not HP scoring.

How the *uck did Ray Rice fall to #14?   My rankings had him as the #3 pick.  Insane.

This year is the year of the WR.  The disparity between the top WRs and the lower is greater than it is for RB and QB.  Sleeper pick for me: Jay Cutler.

LOL iono man Ive seen some rankings that had him lower though thinking he may not have as great a yr as last yr but him and reggie wayne were my first 2 picks

I agree with you about the wide recievers and that how I normally draft I didnt last year and it cost me b/c my wr would only get like 6 points a game or so even though my rb got like 15 a game.

This year I took it a step further and took a good TE early b/c the desparity between a good tightend and a bad one is pretty big imo.

didnt even draft a kicker or a linebacker I picked those 2 up in free agency.

In a 10 team league, combined points, QB TD pass is worth 6, I was picking 10th:

QB Romo (ugh, but he does put up some points, good thing the league doesn't play into the real playoffs  lol)
RB Gore
RB Thomas St. Piere
WR Deshawn Jackson
WR Harvin Percy
TE Vernon Davis
K Crosby
DST  Packers

notable back ups:

RB  R. Williams
WR  Meechum

I not too thrilled about this draft.  My Wide outs are iffy, my second sunning back is iffy too.  but I'm a bit cynical.  I don't really like picking last.  Like BB said, middle of the draft is best

Tony, How does a "linebacker" work in your league?

in our league Linebackers and defensive backs get

1 point per solo tackle
.5 per assisted tackle
2 points for recovering a fumble or intercepting a ball
1 point for causing a fumble
1 point for blocking a pass
6 points for a touchdown
1 point for every 15 yds the get while scoring a TD

they can also get 1 point for every 15 yds they get on punt/kick returns but i dont think there is a linebacker in the league that does that...if there is please let me know ASAP  ;D

some Defensive backs do though like my guy manning and will blackmon so those guys are pretty good pick ups and most ppl dont know about them either b/c they dont look at return yds.

thats the way my league is to with the 6 points per passing td, which is one reason I think rice lasted so long in my league...

youre wide recievers are kinda sketchy and I swear desean jackson is out for the first 4 games...maybe you could trade a RB for one...ricky williams is a decent rb maybe him and wr for a good WR from another team

Boldin and TO between the other 3 Id say either welker or harvin...Id go with harvin if i knew he wouldnt get pulled for a migraine but he is supposed to be their punt and kick off return guy this year so if he stays healthy he will be a good player...

welker is another good one but with edle...whatever his name is playing and honestly playing as good as welker he may get less playing time in order to keep them both healthy...

Id say harvin for this week

I hate the Boldin vs Revis match-up.....but you have to play him.  I agree on TO with you guys, I think he's going to have a nice season.

i want to see Marshall in the regular season first.

Between Welker and Harvin, I'm leaning towards Harvin with Rice out, cause Favre is going to keep winging it and who is he going to throw to?  I love Welker though......in our league you do get 6pts for receiving TD's, so that does hurt Wes a little because with all those catches, he rarely scores a TD...

Thanks fellas.

I think TEs are mostly irrelevant.  With the exception of the top three or four, they score about 0 to 3 on any given Sunday.  I don't draft them till the 7th round or later.

Jackson is playing.

I agree which is why I tried to draft a top TE, the difference between a top tier WR and a 2nd tier WR isnt as big as a top tier TE and 2nd tier TE so I think you get a net gain by going good TE and decent WR...just me though...this is my first year to try this so Ill see how it goes...

I think i picked up my TE round 3...LOL but the round after I drafted 6 other TE's went, I started a trend  ;D

Third round is too early for a TE, but Gates, Gonzo, and Davis went around there in my drafts.  Earliest I would go is 5th for one of those guys.  My focus that early is RBs and a QB.  I'd rather have a solid backup RB than a top tier TE.

See the way I was thinking difference between a good WR and a decent one is bigger than between RB so I drafted WR first more so than RB and a good TE is basically another WR so....

I decided at the last minute to bench Harvin..... 8)  i went with boldin, TO and Marshall.

On the TE subject....our league is a keeper league in its 12th year.  I've had Gates since late in his rookie season and last year before the season a guy released Vernon Davis, who I snapped up.....very happy to have both of them.

Calvin Johnson falling to 28 is just insane to me.

All my rankings, including those with pts per reception and without, had him much higher.  He and Andre Johnson could easily be top 3.

Anyway, looks like a good team.

I was giddy that he was still there and then Miles too. I believe my best value pick will be Thomas Jones and Santonio Holmes once he back from suspension.

In a ten team league, the same happened to me.  I picked Andre Johnson with the 5th, and then got Calvin 16th.

Holmes is a good one to.  I grabbed V Jackson off waivers hoping he returns.  It's a better risk than holding a third TE or something.

i like Stewart.....Carolina is going to have to run the ball with their impotent passing game....even with Smith.  Jacobs was terrible last year and I want to see what he has this year.....plus I think Carolina's def is pretty solid.....although young.
