Are shirts legal? Are they part of the sport?

I find it funny that guys who cant bench shit with or without a shirt comment on them.Like I said, put one on,break all the records.Nothing more amusing then seeing bodybuilders talking about bench shirts .I guess synthol,t-3,growth hormone, site injections, fake color, all of that is legit and real. Its bench shirts that are fake.Ha,ha,ha,most here could put on a tripple denim shirt and couldnt bench 400.

Yes,however,I benched 515 without a shirt in a meet,in a shirt I bench 605.The idea that anyone can put one on and get these magical pounds out of them is silly. The guys that know how to use them are incredibly strong.Im friends with Jason Coker who holds the all time record at 220 with a 900lb bench.I challenge any 220 guy on here to simply unrack 900 and hold it for 10 secods. The guys that are hitting huge numbers with a shirt are strong as hell.Ive been trying to get big numbers out of a shirt for 15 years and I get next to nothing out of them. These guys are no joke.

Why bench shirts are seen as stupid but wrist wraps or knee wraps are not is beyond me.All of these items are used for one reason,to lift bigger weights.

Bench shirts?  It is cheating, just like drugs.  I find it funny that people unable to do anything beyond what their own body is capable of will rationalize taking drugs and/or using a bench shirt.  Why not just get a couple of large drug filled friends to assist you with your bench press at meets.

We can call them "Bench Buddies" if it makes you and other like minded people  somehow feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel better about your "accomplishments".  By the way, I am right about this not because it is I that am saying these words, but because my words are the truth.  Don't care for the truth?  That goes hand in hand with cheating.

I for one never said anything negative about any powerlfiters. I used to be a powerlifter myself. My issue is with the crazy , inflated amounts lifted with the shirts and supports. Obviously you are a big, powerful man with or without a shirt to bench with. The reality is that by our own post here, the shirt can give you nearly 300 lbs more wt lifted. Doesn't that seem kinda odd to have a device that helps you that much. 600 raw is damn strong and I never understood why anyone that strong would want to use some crazy shirt . Just my 2 cents, but some of you seem quite defensive and tochy on this bench shirt issue.

With every critique powerlifters face they will say with an elitist attitude shut the fuck up, we don't care, nobody cares, you must be weak. So people have stopped caring. Keep your boring little "sport". Weightlifters and strongmen are stronger and better athletes anyhow.

The fact is why would you comment if you dont fucking compete in powerlifting and if its boring?Seems like those who rip it are those who didnt have the balls to do it.Weightlifting cant get enough Americans to field a team here. Its dead in the water.Strongmen are certainly better athletes, but it seems EVERYONE of them were former powerlifters.I wonder why they are so strong?

It's all pretty simple.  the only sponsors many powerlifting meets can get are......you guessed it.....the companies that make the suits.

Fucking little pussies! Powerlifting is the real deal. With a shirt you can put more in the bench? Correct you can... but how many of you pussies here can immediately wear a shirt and add 50kg to your max? No one of you because you would destroy your titty wrists and girly shoulder blades!

Look, you can take the shirt of Scott Mendelson and he will continue to outbench any bber. You can take the suit of Andy Bolton and he will continue to outsquat and deadlift more than any bber. The only one capable of getting near these 2 guys is Stann Efferding, that is what??? Tell me... a POWERLIFTER with a IFBB pro card... ahahahah

yes, I don't have the skill needed to operate a forklift. But, I have seen guys lift a lot more useing one then they can lift without it.

I started my bodybuilding when they would often have lifting meets and/or arm wrestling at the BB contest.
Gotta give respect for Stan Eff ! Looks big and lifts big!
I wish I could still do full power meets. Sadly, I blew my back at doing a max dead , 3rd attempt, at a meet when I was in the Marine corps.

It's boring because now it's about equipment and skill. How silly can it get...Ah, alas, there's the usual put down, we don't have the balls. Bohoo.

If you pulled all these guys out of the super suits the honest truth is that most(99.9%) of these guys would only be as strong or even weaker than the raw or 1-ply guys of 30 years ago. If you look at the deadlift which is the only real rawish lift left across powerlifting, the best lifts have only moved up 75-100 pounds in the last 25-30 years and that's with deadlift suits that add on average 50 pounds to the lift. If you left the suits out of Powerlifting, it would be a lot closer to Olympic Lifting, where after you've played with all the drugs and form tweaks, you're still only be adding a few kilos to a total with each generation.

I bet that's got to hurt some of these guys, to know that despite all the layers, all the plys, canvas, denim, lions, tigers and (muscle) bears... oh, my.... they're really no stronger than some old 1970's cat that threw on his old marathon and walked his squats out.
