well Ross would be completely wrong wouldnt he?- i know you are taking the piss but Ross doesnt know mechanics if he truly said that.
the pecs are involved minimally at the last 5th- and the first fifth to quarter of the range it is mechanically at a disadvantage.
that leaves the range where you dont go all the way down, or all the way up. The best compromise is to not go all the way down, and to take a rest/pause by locking out. Dumbbells are probably superior as you can extend the upward range by bringing your wrists towards each other.- and by their nature, you cant go as low due to the bells in the way.
