I don't want to name names, but it's kind of sad when someone who is one of the top 15 in the world in his respective industry has to take a free bus from the host hotel to the expo.  

I don't ask for anything for free from bodybuilders at expos and decided this year that I would attempt to turn down offers.  In 2007 Peter Putnam gave me a free autograph and Phil Heath gave me his first DVD for free that year as well.  Even though I use all of these items to promote the bodybuilders on my website, I think it is more important for them to earn an income than for me to get a freebie.

But on a positive note, Gaspari Nutrition will hit $110 million in sales this year.

Yes...I'd like to believe that.

There's one guy in my town who does pretty well on the local scene but is nowhere near turning pro and doesn't seem to realize that even if he makes it, there is very little money to be made.  I think the reason why some people like bodybuilding is because it can be a perpetual goal if you make it one.  Even Ronnie at 287 pounds in 2003 came in bigger in 2004 and only reduced in size as per the IFBB's recommendations in 2005.  Bodybuilding gives some people - meatheads especially - the chance to always focus on bodybuilding and never move on in life because there really is no end goal in bodybuilding as you can always get bigger and/or leaner.  At least that is the perspective of the one local guy in my town I mentioned above.  Of course he would never admit that though and probably isn't even aware of it on a conscious level.
