2010 Olympia - Serious question re Getbiggers and the O

I know that getbig has morphed into a board with a lot of silly, often funny stuff, (sometimes)related to BB.
*But seriously, if you really think the Olympia is a gaywad festival and have little respect for the pros, why do you follow the sport?*

I don't like some sports, like NASCAR or golf, but I don't waste my time posting about it on a golf or NASCAR forum.
Making a clever , fun , joke has always been a cool, unique part of getbig. However, even after the the biggest contest weekend , the vast majority of posts are silly and insulting when it comes to the Olympia.

It is a free and open forum, and if most of the regulars feel like that fine, have at it. In my opinion, anyone who is hell bent on just making fun of the Olympia is no fan of BB. Good luck.

I'm not making fun of the Olympia. Hell, if your a fan of bodybuilding, that's your super bowl I guess. I'm not a fan of bodybuilding and I couldn't tell you much about anyone involved in the sport. All the info I know is garnered here on GB, so....I really know nothing about it. If you enjoy it, so be it. Who gives a shit of what others say

If you like the professional competitive side of bodybuilding then great for you.  A lot of us are turned off by the sleeziness and politics of it all.

If I learned anything this weekend while posting on GETBIG during the webcast, people here do actually care about bodybuilding, regardless of how much they make fun of it and insult it!

Those dudes putting bb down are just ATTENTION WHORES.

Other possibility is that they are disappointed because they've realized at some point, they are not making it in bb.  Now trying to convince everybody that they don't actually give a shit about such a gay sport...

seriously, there is nothing "Gay" about enjoying Pro bodybuilding or attend a show. I guess there are too many  F.aggs on here who always think that bodybuilding is for the Homos to enjoy and nothing else.....that's so fucking ridiculous.

No I'm not a pro, not even close!  But I respect pro's in any sport! A professional has the work ethic, put in the blood sweat and tears, dedication, sacrifice towards their sport!  Most of their fan base aspire to do the same. A pro is a pro for a reason you should just RESPECT the work it takes to make it to that level.

I hate to judge without knowing someone, but based on what is posted they seem pretty insecure .
If they read and post on a BB forum they must have some interest in BB. Perhaps, someone said something and it made them feel awkward.?

True story.  A few years ago a friend of mine was doing the state show.  The discussion came up at a family gathering and a friend of a family member tried to embarass me by saying something along the lines of "oh, you like to go watch big oiled up muscle guys posing?" with one of those look around the room for attention move....my response was "I never thought of it that way, but makes me wonder about you."  everybody laughed and he slinked away.

They never say the MMA fighter should challenge to BB to a posedown do they?
It is as silly as saying something like Peyton Manning is a great QB, but I would like to see how he does in a Hockey rink in the NHL. wtf?

I think the ifbb a joke but Ive made just as many posts about the sport as I have Lundgren.

I cant stand steriods for one. Im all about fitness not endarngering my health for some smchoe fest. Id much rather talk about lundgren, Dwayne Johnson, Arnold, and people on lower dosages.

My point is I love bodybuilding, but I cant stand the modern IFBB. I dont get this zero sum game Idea of the sport. Either I love the Olympia or I dont belong here.  

Besides all that bodybuilding is borning to talk about. Even the makers of pumping iron admit this. I post here because it gets me excited about going to the gym while all my friends would rather talk about getting drunk or stoned.

As you get older you learn to avoid taking any silly negative crap very serious .
I used to enter bench meets , power meets, and even summer track meets ( sprinting) to "prove" to the naysayers , that I was fast and strong. In the end they still didn't like or understand BB and didn't care what I did.
It only held me back from more progress in pure BB.

I didn't mean he's an example of an attention whore. I meant he's an example of someone who didn't make it in bb as good as he would've wanted, so now makes fun of bodybuilding/bodybuilders whenever he gets the chance. There are actually a lot of examples of this here.

And yes, the comparison of MMA fighters with bodybuilers is one of the dumbest things ever.
