Katy Perry on Sesame Street

Are parents overreacting to the outfit??

"Sesame Street" has cold feet about Katy Perry.

The "Teenage Dream" singer had a schedule appearance in a music video with Elmo on the Monday, Sept. 27 debut of the show's 41st season, but then clips leaked out on YouTube.

"'Sesame Street' has a long history of working with celebrities across all genres, including athletes, actors, musicians and artists," Sesame Workshop says in a statement. "'Sesame Street' has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult. We use parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show because we know that a child learns best when co-viewing with a parent or caregiver. We also value our viewer's opinions and particularly those of parents.

"In light of the feedback we've received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on You Tube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of 'Sesame Street,' which is aimed at preschoolers.  Katy Perry fans will still be able to view the video on You Tube."

The comments haven't been very kind. The video is a song parody of Perry's "Hot and Cold," used to teach viewers about opposites. It's not the concept or the singing that's at issue, however. Perry wears a yellow dress with a bustier top that displays her cleavage prominently. Many of the comments refer to her breast and whether or not preschoolers will be fixated on them.

Judge for yourself:

What do you think of Katy Perry and Elmo's video?
Hot. It's just good fun. Miss Piggy has more cleavage!

Cold. Um, we don't want our kids exposed to that.

I think it was fine....if she had grotesque, fake-looking implants, then that could traumatize the kids. But displaying natural titties is good for children...

If your son is focused on her cleavage, then a parent doesn't need to worry that their child will be gay.

Do you actually know any children?

Little kids are sexually unaware, seeing the top half of a female chest is not going to traumatise or turn them on in any way shape or form.

I presume you think children also shouldn't go to the beach, a swimming pool, see cheerleaders, the ballet, a gymnastics show etc. etc. etc.

It seems like the parents were paying more attention to her cleavage than the children, or should I say jealous mothers paying more attention to what they know they either don't have, did have, or what their signifigant others would look at.

Yeah, I know a few children.   :)

We need to set the right example for kids.  They are extremely smart.  Sponges.  They copy and adopt what they see, are taught, etc.  That's why responsible parents and adults control their kids' environment.  That's why you don't set a kid in front of a porno flick, or use foul language, etc.  Kids need to be exposed to age-appropriate activities.

You think she is dressed like a hooker?

Can you post a pic of how a woman is supposed to dress, according to you?

I think if you put her on the street corner, she would fit right in.

No, I don't have any pictures.  It's sort of a "you know it when you see it" thing.  Some women know how to dress with class and wear things appropriate to whatever event they are participating in, and some don't.  For example, clothes that might be appropriate for a club can make a woman look like a skank if she wears them to a play.

Since Sesame Street is subliminal communist fodder anyways... It makes sense the people who watch it hate great American things... like boobies.

QFT!

Preschoolers wouldn't notice the cleavage.
Maybe the adults would, ...but who gives a poop?

Since when did tatas become the debil? Next they'll say that Angelina Jolie, or any celeb with dsl's should never be on the show because we all know that all little 4 yr olds fantasize about getting BJ's from plump dsl's.  ::)
