No American I know.....and I know a few more than you I dare say......say they are german, scottish or irish......they might say that is their heritage, but that is totally different.  Not to mention the ones you have most likely been in contact traveled to where you are in europe, so they feel more inclined to share that info with you.  The better question is, when are euros going to discover deodrant?

Well I do have native american blood in my family, part of the reason I consider myself an ethic canadian. Also the fact that my only known ancestor from europe was of course Irish, but he came to the country about 50 years before the country was even formed(1820s).
Looking at my last names I can say I Irish, scottish whatever. Yet I have friends that see their history from outside the country so they see themselves as being Chinese, Indian, Polish, German, whatever.

unfortunately...north americans are caught up in that little popcorn singing princess when they think Colombian but you should think Monique_Fuentes...who is a very, very, very Colombian woman in terms of her physical European expression with a heavy ethnic dose.  When they have that Colombian thing...as i say...they have this 24/7 serious look on their faces like russians...just in a colombian way. it's hard to explain.
