I posted this question on another board awhile back with very limited positive response...wanted to test it out here.
Do the Founders of America, do their ideas, philosophies and beliefs carry any legitimate weight today? Do their ideas and thoughts carry the same value and meaning they did over 200 years ago?
Here are some basic quotes of a few...does their thinking still hold true today?

Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness. (George Washington)
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. (Ben Franklin)

The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for among old parchments or musty records. They are written, as with a sunbeam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of the divinity itself; and can never be erased. (Alexander Hamilton)
The natural liberty of man is to be free from any superior power on Earth, and not to be under the will or legislative authority of man, but only to have the law of nature for his rule. (Samuel Adams)
The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil constitution, are worth defending against all hazards: And it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. (Samuel Adams)
