McCain would not have supported the GZ mosque, not sued AZ over the illegals getting booted, not appointed Kagan and Soto, had a different Stim Bi,, not passed a healthcare mess like ObamaCare, not do a world apology tour, etc etc.
McCain was bad, and many things about him make me cringe, but to say things would be exactly the same is simply not true.
the point is, mccain(or anyone else) would have done things contrary to what he campaigned on, and then it would be the Right who would be all pissed with him.
the assertations you make about what he 'would have done' are based on the Campaign mccain...the person you see in the campagn mode is full of the ideologies of his party/personal ideologies...but again, once they become Pres they just do what they are told.
saying 'oh such-and-such person would/wouldn't have do done this!!!' based on their Campaign personas is the height of folly.
if anything, obama has gone further right in many respects, he did not end the wars but instead maintained and even expanded it, has not closed 'gitmo' or whatever, has not been a savior for gays, has not been more transparent, filled his posts with big bankers/jews/corporate players/establishment people, etc...
