You can take an antihistamine for the bites .. be cautious of any infections coming from them by itching .. and I'd not only bomb but vacuum very thoroughly and wrap the mattress up tight with plastic after .. if it came with your rental unit it's most likely infested pretty bad

Gosh .. it's an awful mess to get rid of .. they live in every nook and cranny imaginable ... you'll have a tough time getting rid of them if you can't dispose of the mattress even after an exterminator

Yeah, I rented this place when I was still in NYC. I have spoken to management about it and they are the ones sending the exterminator tomorrow. They are covering all the costs (as they rightfully should) and they are getting rid of the bed afterwards as well. The itching is crazy...apparently I read they inject an anaesthetic when thye bite you so you don't feel it. No idea if I can sleep at all tonight, didn't sleep last night because of the itching and the knowledge of their presence.

Yeah, it started when I noticed itchy red spots on my hands and arms, then on my thighs and neck and then almost everywhere. Did some research and found identical pics and then I found the corpses of the beasts.

oh yeah i could see the things crawling on my bed mattress and on my table by my bed-i have a lot of crap all over the table like bottles and receipts and empty vitamin jars and if i pushed the mess to the side these lil black bugs were everywhere

Yep.  An Indian/Aussie woman I hired last year had them.  She shared a house with several others, people always coming & going.  She bombed once and it didn't do the job, I guess.

I had to pick her up from the train station in the morning and tbh I was always worried about here bringing a pregnant one with her into the van.  Never happened, thankfully.

If you've got the funds, my preference would be to get out of there and take nothing along.  I'm sure that's not practical tho.  Just make sure to let the chems clear out well after the fumigation.

I got them last year..However, i figured i caught the problem before it got out of hand.  I only got about 20-30 bites over the course of a few weeks..However, i spent about 60 dollars on chemicals to fumigate my house (bombs).  The fumigation worked and i haven't had any issues since. Knock on wood...

The bites are very itchy, and usually the bugs bite in patterns with 2-3 bites. Bedbugs usually bite around blood vessels..

 It seems that everyone is getting them these days.

The best pesticide for bed bugs was Diazanon.  You would apply it along the corners of the room where the walls meet the floor...but it is no longer marketed because hypocondriacs thought it gave their kids asthma.
