Jag - check this out - no shit - two weeks ago I was on the jet ski down near State of Liberty. I launch the jet ski out of yonkers, NY, which is about 10 miles noth.
The Coast Guard stopped me for a inspection and boarding. This was about a 55 foot cutter with machine gun on the front, with four guys in it all with side arms, BDU's, etc. The jet ski requires a lot of items you need on board like flares, whistle, flags, and a bunch of crap. Out of about 25 things, I had everything but the fire extinguisher.
The guys said to me "you can't be out here without the fire extinguisher". i said - "ok, my bad, I didnt realize it, I will head back to yonkers, and pick one up".
They then said "no, you cant be on the water wo the fire extinguisher". So, I said "what do you want me to do?" No attitude, nothing like that since CG will fuck you up!
So, they said they were going to escort me back to Yonkers and watch me take the jet ski out of the water. So, no shit, they escroted me ten miles up the Hudson River going about 20 miles an hour, all the way back to Yonkers and literally sat at the ramp and watched me get off the machine, tie up, go get the car, back it down, and take the ski out of the water."
About 5 minutes later they left, probably assuming I would take it out again. Now - these idiots have nothing better to do? Think of thwe waste of fuel, man power, time, etc? This is what we have become!
This is why I was defending that guy in the fire thread over the $75 fee. According to some on this board - they probably felt I should have just been forced to swim back to shore and let the CG impound the ski or shoot it to the bottom of the river.
When people ask why the average citizen HATES the govt - its crap like this that goes on day after day after day.
