How about foreign films!? A lot of the better ones are far better than Hollywood's current productions.

One of my favorite foreign movies was a 2009  French film called "UN PROPHETE" or THE PROPHEt with a relatively new actor - Tahar Rahim - who did one hell of a great job in that flick about a  young Arab man who is sent to a French prison where he becomes a mafia kingpin.

Doesn't sound like much but it was a hell of a great movie and Tahar Rahim made it real and I believe that all the other "actors" were actual inmates..
 
He's making five new films, so you'll be hearing about this great new actor ..
2012 Black Thirst (pre-production)
2011 Aimer à perdre la raison (pre-production)
2011 Cool Water (pre-production)
2011 Free Men (filming)
2010 The Eagle (completed)

Also very well done with great acting was Sweden's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" which Hollywood is attempting to reproduce right now.

those arent great "acting" scenes.......they are just great scenes in general, in concept and the action

JVCD..... I have never seen that movie but I'd read good reviews about it and the fact that it was going to restart his career. (I'll find it on NetFlix.)

But as far as I know, it never did happen. What's up with that?

BTW... Any exceptionally good USMC Drill Instructor (God bless 'em all!) would prove to be a great actor if he could continue that persona in front of a movie camera. They act every day with a real live, critical audience and I'm somewhat surprised that some Hollywood writers have yet to write a present day movie script about the daily life and routine of DI's of the Marine Corps type.

I've got a good number of actual DI shinanigans that would be more than appropriate for Academy consideration.

Hmmm, come to think of it ....... You got Final Draft yet, Grant/Disturbia?
