board shorts = legs not needed
 ???
are there gonna be any examples or definition of the class...
not too familar with spacebody :-\

It'll be just as retarded as bikini. Some guys will be able to just walk off the street and do ok if they possess the pretty boy homo look and some decent genetics.  For example:

Until details come out on exactly what will be needed, what you need to wear, and more - all we know is that NPC Physique for Men was approved to begin next year today.   Obviously, there are going to be rules and a structure.

There are a ton of competitor and men who want to compete but just dont want to get big and muscular.  That doesnt mean they don't want to be in shape with a six pack.  There is a difference.

Judging by what I saw at the Muscle&Fitness Physique Contest at the Olympia, and the Bodyspace Contest in January, and also various other events, there is an interest for it, and a lot of guys want to compete.

If you think this is guys in swimsuits, you are wrong.  Check out the pics from the Bodyspace, and from the M&F Physique from the Olympia.  In shape guys.  Now, forget about the short swimsuits.

These guys need to wear board shorts, which are like long shorts that look cool.   It isnt going to be gay, and a can guarantee you that a lot of these guys have girlfriends that would love to see them compete.

Ron, you are the ultimate schmoe. Your job is to photograph men in little underwear. Yet, you have never stepped foot in a gym. You will defend the NPC/IFBB no matter what. Man up. Its a shitty idea.

LOL, the funny truth is you can usually make more $$ for 30 minutes of your time in one of these club shows then you would in a legit pro show getting 4th place, hahahaha

Yes, male bodybuilders, and um.... 260 beautiful girls in bikinis this weekend... oh well...

With a male bodybuilder, I look at the entire physique, but rarely look to see if they are posing in 'underwear'.   So dude, just stop looking down there, and appreciate and respect.  You sound like the conservative that goes to church and is afraid of his own shadow.

Is it a bad idea?  We will see.   Everyone complains about something.

Good night, time to go to bed here in Atlanta - 1:30am

Sounds like it is going to be based on height and weight...you have to be a certain height and weight to be in a category. In Asia, the WBSF has already started doing shows like that. It's basically taking bbing back to the earlier days before the mass game came into the picture.

Who knows, if it does turn out to be like what i've just explained..maybe there will yet be hope for bbing to be a lil more mainstream. ;)

So training legs is not a necessity anymore?? ;D

And as predicted 5 years ago, men's figure is going to become a reality.  Hot damn!

And when these guys start getting 'too muscular', an even more watered-down division will be created for the twinks on the outside looking in: men's bikini.   ;D

Really makes you wonder how many competitive bodybuilders are going to show up to this class just because they're off season at the time of a show and they can probably win an easy $500 based on the way they look then and there

all of the so called sport of bb is a failure.
requiem for drug addicts with little mans syndrome

Yeah it's funny to see the NPC and IFBB try to reinvent itself.  Kind of like the current US economy.

Actually, it is a good idea.  Many competitors have complained that they want to compete, but not be the super muscular bodybuilders that the sport wants them too.  This is a good division for a myriad of guys who look good, are in great shape, and want to compete.

A few of these contests have been going on in the past year or two as 'Physique Contests' for the guys and are popular.

So stop complaining, and lets see some of you get on stage.

In 2011.

This might be somewhat complicated to execute.  You would have to have the judges expressly looking for thinner builds and awarding them or else these contests would just turn into normal professional bodybuilding contests.  I think it is a good idea though, in the sense that a lot of people who like bodybuilding do not want to take it to the same level as the pros.

Just like how I think the 202 class is a complete joke and failure. Isn't that class supposely for the "shorter," obviously smaller bber's yet they are awarding "midget," monsters like Kevin English and runner up Dave Henry, with the former looking like a bag of smashed assholes with a bunch of bodyparts put together with no flow when they should be awarding guys like Eduardo Correa. What a joke ::)

The rest of the planet, in IFBB, knows there is other division for Bodybuilding (Classics Bodybuilding) with different rules. In esence there is an limitation in weight for your height= if your are 1,75 cms tall you can not to weight more than 79 kilos and so...

There are four classes:

Until 1,70 m (with a maximun weight, your height + 2, after one meter) Exemple; 1,65 ms maximun weight 67 kilos
Until 1,75 m + 4
Until 1,80 m +6
More than 1,80 + 8 kilos

And is simply another form of the same bodybuilding... The same rules, same criteria...

I was in the NPC Board of Governors meeting where this was discussed.

It will begin next year (2011) and is OPTIONAL for NPC promoters to include it with their contests. There will be two divisions to start based on height. The look the judges are after is similar to the look you saw for the Muscle & Fitness cover search at the Olympia. The Physique division will likely be added to the Team Universe and USA contests, with yes IFBB Pro League status rewarded.

All the details have not yet been finalized and official word will come from the NPC office in the coming weeks.
