Ok. I'm going to get on the side of The Establishment now.
How many here have a better system than the one we have now (not talking about party)? NONE!
You see, for all we bitching and moaning about higher taxes, corrupt politicians, et cetera; we live in a prosperous society. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has a chance to get ahead if they want to. Yes, our successive governments have drilled our economy to an unsustainable point, one whose direction we either change or we're fucked, but, at the end of the day, all this socialist talk about "wage slave labor" and being a "slave to debt" and all the jerk off stuff no one TRULY believes is just BS and it doesn't get anyone with Americans because we know it is BS. We know that in today's society a socialist system breaks down in no time. The same way a truly capitalist system breaks down even faster. A hybrid of the two is what we need. And a hybrid of the two is what we have.
You see, where all these anti-system people see nothing but evil, people who want to enslave you based on a loan (aka debt) I see people who lend you money to do something, provided you pay interest at the end of the month. Is the lender trying to enslave you? No! The lender works based on the fact that you have a job (and regardless of system, every person has to work or produce something of value) but you do not have enough money, at the present time, to buy x. He/she know you will have it in x months, so they lend you the money. He gets his 5%, you get your house and both sides are satisfied. The lender doesn't push you into borrowing the money.
I mean, there isn't a single person here who distrusts corporations half as much as I do, but please, let's throw caution to the wind here. We live in a system of privilege that works when done well, provided politicians work for The People, not for one small segment of the population. The problem is not the system, it's the politicians.
It's not even a case of someone dangling a carrot in front face. It's someone giving you the carrot provided you give him something in return. That "something" is almost always something easily attainable, but definitely not a ball and chain.
I'm a lefty and have always been a lefty but... come on, this is not a cotton field in the South and I'm not Kunta Kinte.
Let's all grab the politicians by the balls.
