Clueless.   Utterly clueless.    businesses are in business to make money and deliver products to consumers at a price conumers are willing to pay and afford.

Production costs in the USA are too high due to govt regulation, mandates, etc and availability of friendlier places overseas.  Until we get rid of the EPA, unions, crazy tort laws, etc, jobs will keep going overseas.

But 33386, the only way to bring production costs stateside down to levels where it can compete with China, would require paying American workers the equivalent of the wages paid to the Chinese. Can you really see paying an American factory worker the equivalent of $5 or $10 a week... or whatever it is?

The only way I see the manufacturing coming back is only until AFTER the USD plummets to the equivalent of a rock, and the Yuan is permitted to rise to it's true value, ...and the Chinese start manufacturing goods in America using American workers they can pay with peanuts, and export back to China to sell domestically.

You could get rid of all that and it would still be much cheaper for companies to move production to China. Come on man you know this

The policies are Obamas. He might have others who advise him,but he believes in them. His goal is the total destruction of the United States.EVERY policy he puts into place further speeds up that process.

Not true - labor costs are not the only factor in the end cost to the user - there is packaging, shipping, customs, laws, regulatory compliance, tort claims, insurance costs, workers' comp, HR nonsense, time delay, etc etc.

Dear God - go check out my running thread on Obama killing the economy - I have over 175 articles in there describing nearly everything he is doing to kill jobs and manufacturing and production.

That true there are other factors, but are you honestly saying that the US can compete with China on wages and cost of production?

Not on labor - but we can make ourselves more competitive by at least moving in a different direction than intentionally driving the costs higher.  We need to favor those that produce instead of those that add to the cost of production like insurance companies, tort lawyers, class action lawyers, etc etc.

How about a law that banned a company from selling products to the country unless they had part of the production here?

i have no idea about that, but I do think we need truly free trade and if a company wont give reciprocal access to their markets for our goods, we should tell them to GFY!

They sure do, but if they try to do something, thay are working against the free market and that makes them socialists right? ::)

Where do you come up with this bullshit? The government is already making manufacturing in the US so cost prohibitive that the jobs go where it is not. So I guess we already have socialism ::)

Sure there is need for some regulation, but like everything else the government gets involved in, it goes way to far. Wonder why the healthcare system is fucked up, look no further than the government.

1. I disagree. You simply cant compete on cost with Asia and other countries. You dont agree?

2.Well there has only been public health care for like a couple of months right? So if the health care system is fucked up is the fault not on the HealthCare/ensurance companies?

1) So labor is cheaper, what about the cost of importing the item?

2)Oh wait a second I thought according to Obama the system was broken and they had to fix it? How exactly do you think the insurance companies got a strangle hold on the healtcare system in the first place? Here I'll give you a hint,The Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973.

"anti-colonialist "

What do you mean here?

Also, Obama's borrowing is disgusting... but Palin lecturing a harvard grad while grasping to hger 2.2 GPA is a little silly.

People who are struggling to make ends meet don't give a rat's behind where Obama got his degree. If anything, that makes his sniveling and crying like a punk EVEN MORE embarrassing.

Even with Obama's Harvard degree, he has yet to figure out that TEN PERCENT unemployment is more than EIGHT PERCENT unemployment (the level at which he said unemployment would not exceed, if his stupid stimulus was passed).

Good point, hell I would take some of the posters here in a debate over Obama any day of the week. And I bet we don't have many Harvard grads posting here
