The problem is that Olympia promoters have a way of working these newly formed divisions onto the main stage.  If you want to see men's pre-judging, you already have to sit through the women's show Friday night (which got longer with the additon of bikini).  And even if it doesn't make it's way to the main stage on the pro level, imagine going to an amateur show where there are 300 bikini girls and 100 figure guys.  I don't see why it's necessary to award "pro" status for every money making opportunity the NPC pursues.  I mean really, Mr. Figure Olympia??

This wont be a main stage thing, nor willthere be a "Olympia" title with it

That said, no one HAS to sit through anything....just come LATER!

Here is what I think the deal is.
The reason a high % of students still buy a yearbook is that they have their own pic in it and those of their friends.

1. The NPC goes from 200 to 500 plus entrants by adding figure and bikini
2. That is 300 plus more entrants at 100 bucks per, for an extra 30,000 bucks just from entry fee with little extra cost for promotion
3. Each bikini or figure babe will bring at least 1 freind, hubby or family member and they buy tickets.
4. Add male bathing suit class and more regular guys compete and bring a few friends.

5. The bodybulders just "suck it" and deal with it as they have no place else to compete, right now.
6. The organization makes a profit from those who attend and don't even try to expand the fan base.
meanwhilewe bodybuilders have to put up with the endeless hrs of NON bodybuilding crap up on the stage and wait and wait and wait for the real bodybuilding.

I will no longer buy finals tickets for that kind of crap. I was a serious fan that actually bought the best tickets I could get, NO LONGER if this continues.

THAT is the problem. I have interest in waiting around and hope I catch the show at the right time for the bodybuilding.
This format may make some $$, but it won't find me supporting it, sorry.

What about the Olympia.  Here's the biggest show of the year and the men have to wait around backstage for a complete women's night show to end.  They take the stage at about 9:30 Friday night.  Bob, you're the pro rep for the men, isn't the consensus that they would like to go back to a Saturday pre-judging and have the entire show on the same day?  You're also part of the Olympia production team, so there's probably a conflict of interest between what's best for the competitors and what's best for the promoters.

This part of the reason I won't pay decent $$ to go to the Olympia.
I want to see mostly bodybuilding at a bodybuilding contest.
I love seeing cheerleaders at sporting events looking cute in short skirts on the sidelines.
I wouldn't want to see them playing football for 3 hrs before the actual game started.

I think its a good idea. Classical bodybuilding (like in eu) is something I would have liked to sre happen before though but oh well.

Easy fix to make today's bodybuilding competitions more like 70's classical bodybuilding: add the vacuum to the mandatory poses and make it a big percentage of overall score. GH guts eliminated in a year and no need for a male fitness/aerobic/figure/lame division.

Whats best for the competitors is more money, and in order to do that, we have to have BOTH night making a profit...which is why we made the switch the way we did...We als have EXPO considerations...if the PJ is held during the EXPO, then less people are at the expo...

Why don't the IFBB pros just start showing up at every gay rights event and their popularity would go through the roof...Although, us straights would lose more interest than we already do

The father and the fat son don’t have a problem so why should you?  Then again…chick would say they run a clean .org even after they give themselves raises next yr from all the new fees.   A fudge pack board of directors and the competitors have no clue…so why complain?

Howard, I have no idea how the IFBB will set up the judging criteria for this new event but the future may prove that you’re going a bit overboard with your feelings and response.

The are many people who are complaining about the condition of today’s top IFBB pros and many of them are highly respected GetBig members.

And time just might prove that there are a good number of guys who would like to compete if they don’t have to stand beside the likes of Cutler and the rest of the Olympia contenders and state champions who have the potential and the desire to stand on that Olympia stage.

This new event may allow those guys the opportunity to get national recognition and possible supplement contracts with those companies who would prefer to sponsor individuals who may be more appealing to the general public.

I personally think that this could be a great opportunity for those who prefer to keep their gains to a reasonable minimum, etc., etc.

And it will definitely be a money maker for the IFBB who could care less if you decided to spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

I actually prefer to attend the Expo only .... and maybe you’ll be doing the same as your way of showing that you don’t like whatever it is that the IFBB is attempting to initiate.

But I can almost guarantee you that the IFBB will make tons of money with this new event even if you and I don’t show up.

Respectfully stated, Stunt.

Bingo.

And lose the embarrassing dancing.  Horrible.

I am not hopeful that straight women would find something to get excited about with this new division...sounds like my male hairstylist's cup of tea though ???

Oh boy, here we go :D
As it stands now, the issue is one of total time for NON bodybuilding stuff to be on stage.
The figure and bikini took up about 3 hrs at the night finals at the nationals BEFORE the first male BB hit the stage.
If that format continues or gets longer with the male figure, count me out when it comes to buying finals tickets.
I will contine to go to the expos and bodybuilding judging however.
I have NO interest in buying a ticket to see a show that has 2/3  NON bodybuilding divisions.
It is the huge % of the contest time that is the issue, NOT that they have "some" figure or bikini. It is too much and getting worse with the men doing it next yr.
Imagine going to an NHL hockey game where they spend 3 hrs doing a figure skating show BEFORE they drop the puck.
I respect you Bob, but this is something I won't support, sorry.

That's probably because you're 100% gay, I would rather watch a bunch of hot girls strut around in bikini's then a bunch of muscled up guys in thongs... LOL if it wasn't for the bikini division I think attendance would have dropped by 2/3 down to strictly family members and schmoes

If you don't like bodybuilding, you probably wouldn't be at a bodybuilding show to begin with.  Imagine going to a bikini contest, but first they started it off with 300 bodybuilders.  And you had to sit through all of their routines and were told to be open minded because this allows a little of something for everyone and generates income for this upstart bodybuilding division.  Oh but wait, some of the guys are not muscular enough for bodybuilding, so you have to sit through 3 other men's divisions; fitness, figure, and modeling with another 500 contestants.  Now you've watched 4 hours of men in thongs and still haven't seen a bikini contest.  Is this a good idea for the promoters?

Mens figure is gayer than asking if you can push another mans stool in to get past him at the bar, why Bob is onboard with this I have no idea.

Good point! It is a bodybuilding contest and if I want to see cute girls in bikinis I can other places for that.
Once again, I don't want to see 3hrs of Disney On Ice before an NHL hockey game, I paid to see.

Gotta be honest, I wasnt on board originally, but the response was pretty damn good. I do believe it may be better suited for the EXPO stage...but we need to expand and move with the times.  Whats the difference if its there or not?

It will just be like male sports models..which is cool...some dudes just dont have what it takes to be 250 shreaded..But 185 with good lines is very attainable

must be a shortage of gay cam whores in training.
note there is no longer the shortage noticed before ifbb figure/bikini competitions
