"Maverick" had a 1984 Kawasaki zx900A1, better known as the GPz900R....

It was the original 16-valve, liquid-cooled, four-cylinder engined motorcycle, the stock road bike could do 150 mph, it was the fastest production bike of its time.

If you look close in the movie....you can see it strapped to the trailer while Tom Cruise is "riding" it.

Anyone else notice that there's been a decline in sports cars recently, sure some companies still have them going, but others straight up discontinued them!

Toyota:  We went from MR-2, Supra, Celica, to now....?  nothing

Acura:  We had the NSX, RSX, now.....? nothing

Honda:  We had the Del Sol, the Prelude, the S2000, now....?  The Accord and Civic Coupe?  Meh

Chevy still has the Camaro, and corvette... good good

Ford... Mustang!

Nissan...  doing well... Got the 370Z, Altima couple, and the GT-R

Mitsubishi.... Still has the Eclipse

Hyundai.... Genesis Coupe (I like that car a lot)

Dodge.... Charger, Challenger

Infiniti:  G37

What am I missing here guys?

Unless you plan to restore it, you will look like a goof who had to buy a 98 3000 gt because you cannot afford a current sports car.

If I were you, I'd buy a retro m3 and restore it. That would be a cool project.

My friend had an Eclipse Turbo in Hawaii.  I drove that little fucker a few times.  That car hauled ass.  My Porsche orginally had twin turbos and have no idea why whoever took them off did that.  One of the fastest (at least quickest) cars I have had is the 86' Mustang GT 5.0 convertible.  That fucking car hauled ass and handled great.  My stuntman friend has one teo and we did the Sunset Blvd. race several times.  That car sounded deep and tough.  That was the best year and the last year they had carbs.  I had ordered a Saleen one year.  Even put $5000 down.  I never picked it up or went back to the dealer.  It was white on white.  This was back in the mid 80's.  They had just come out I think.
