Actor Randy Quaid and his wife...
« on: October 22, 2010, 09:04:40 PM »
Actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi have been arrested in Vancouver, Canada, four days after a California judge issued a warrant for their arrest.

The pair became wanted criminals after failing to show up for an arraignment hearing in a Santa Barbara courthouse on Monday. The court date stemmed from their arrest in September, when they were busted for felony vandalism for allegedly squatting in the guest house of a Montecito home they once owned.

TV bounty hunter Duane 'Dog' Chapman issued a public ultimatum to the Quaids during an appearance on late night talk show Lopez Tonight on Thursday, calling for the couple to surrender to police or face capture by the tough guy.

But according to TMZ.com, the TV ultimatum was not necessary - cops apprehended the pair in British Columbia earlier that day. The couple have just sought political asylum in Canada.  :o

They are seeking political refugee status, claiming there are some odd things taking place and happening to their Hollywood actor friends. My understanding is that currently, Mr Quaid and his wife were out on $50,000 bail at the time of their flight across the border. This is highly unusual, and I'm sure there will be more info forthcoming in the next little while.

I've seen political refugee status claimed by those opposed to wars, but I've never seen it from those supposedly living a privileged life. This should prove rather fascinating.

ps: Mrs Quaid has the best looking mug shot I've ever seen.  :D
